Uniform Policy
- Navy or garnet polo shirts with the RND logo may be worn year-round. These may be long or short-sleeved, as available from our supplier. Solid coloured, long-sleeve shirts may be worn under short-sleeve polo shirts.
- Students may wear Spring/Fall uniform from September 1st until October 9th and from April 1st until the end of June. The Spring/Fall uniform includes official uniform shorts and polo shirts.
- Dress shoes or sneakers (any colour) are permitted, as are formal sandals (such as Birkenstocks). However, no flip-flops, shower slides or Crocs are allowed.
RND uniform sweaters can be worn with any uniform. Sweatshirts and hoodies are not permitted, even if they're school merchandise or from a school team or club.
The formal white dress shirts and blouse can only be worn with the pants or a kilt. They may not be worn with uniform shorts. The garnet or blue polo shirts are permitted with either pants or shorts.
Please note: Certain classes will have specific footwear requirements due to safety. Students should follow the specific direction of their classroom teacher.
Uniforms are available for purchase online through McCarthy's, our uniform supplier.
Cell Phone Policy
We recognize the importance of technology in education; however, excessive or inappropriate use of personal mobile devices can disrupt learning and social interactions.
Students will be expected to store personal mobile devices out of sight during instructional time, except when their use is explicitly permitted by the educator. Progressive discipline measures will occur when students do not follow the expectations of the use of personal mobile devices. Exceptions will be made to the use of personal mobile devices for medical purposes and to support educational needs. Educators will plan accordingly with parents/guardians when these circumstances occur. Parents are asked to contact the main office at 613-545-1902 if they need to speak to their child during class hours.
Student Pick-Up at End-of-day at Cowdy St. Entrance
If you are picking up your child at the end of the day at the Cowdy Street entrance, please refrain from parking next to the curb that is closest to the building (highlighted in red on the image below). We have students that take accessible school busses home and require this space to pick-up students safely and quickly so that they can be on time for their next stop.
You may park on the opposite side of the curb furthest away from the building (highlighted in green on the image below).
We will be blocking this area off with cones to ensure only school busses can access this space.
Attendance
Attendance tracking is crucial to us at RND. The Safe Arrivals Program allows families to report their child's absence in a convenient way. Using the Safe Arrivals Program, families will be able to report daily absences, such as an illness, medical appointment, etc., and schedule absences in one of three ways:
- SchoolMessenger app
- SchoolMessenger website
- Calling toll-free 1-844-445-4383
Sign-Out Procedures for Students
If a student needs to leave during the school day, they should be signed out at the main office (or ahead of time through the SchoolMessenger App). Once signed out, it is understood that the student is leaving school property. Students do not need to wait at the main office for a parent/guardian, but instead may meet at an agreed-upon pick-up location or, if appropriate, make their own way to an appointment.
In some cases, classes may attend extra-curricular events during the school day under the supervision of a teacher. However, for safety reasons, students cannot be signed out on their own to attend these types of events. Once a student is signed out, we need to assume they have left school property so that we can properly account for everyone in the event of an emergency.
School Cash Online
RND uses School Cash Online, which is a convenient, easy to use, safe way to manage fee payments for schools. Annual student fees, extracurricular fees and other school purchases must be made through this online system.
RND Social Media
Follow us on social media using the links below for regular news, announcements and reminders.
Bus Information
Riding a Friend’s Bus? Here’s What You Need
A bus pass is required for any student who wishes to ride a friend’s bus. Parents/guardians must email the school to provide permission. Please include the following in each request: •
- Student’s full name
- Friend’s full name
- Bus number
- A clear statement of permission
Send your email to flhpregi@alcdsb.on.ca. Once the request is processed, the bus pass will be ready for pickup. Students must bring the pass to the driver to board the bus.
Do you live in Gananoque?
RND arranges for late transportation home to Gananoque for students involved in an after-school practice (school sports/school clubs/school musical/school band). Students must book their seat in advance to access this service and have returned their permission form. If you have not yet received this form, please email Linda Chapman (chapmanl@alcdsb.on.ca) in the main office.
Policies and Procedures
2026-2027 Pastoral Theme
Our scripture passage for the next 5 years is What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? - Micah 6:8
This year's pastoral theme, "Do Justice", calls us to action. This is not a passive stance. It is one that calls us to become more aware of ourselves, the impact we can have on the world around us and to actively become the hands and feet of Christ in a world where injustice and suffering not only exist but threaten and violate the inherent dignity of each person who is created in the image and likeness of God.
Student and Family Information
For any changes to your family details, including address, phone numbers, or contact information, please reach out to Ms. Chapman in the main office at chapmanl@alcdsb.on.ca. Accurate information helps us stay connected and support your child effectively.
Technology Access
Students can access the Virtual Commons and their D2L courses at home by visiting my.alcdsb.on.ca and signing in with their school username and password (make sure to type the link directly in the URL bar rather than searching for it on Google). Any students struggling with technology can visit the Learning Commons for assistance.
Student Wellness
RND is blessed to have both a full-time youth worker, Amey Cancian and a full-time social worker, Edy Cruz-Fuentes. They are available to support students who are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other mental health struggles. Any student looking for support can pop down to their offices in the Wellness Hub (near the cafetorium) to chat or make an appointment for a later date.
Nick Murphy is serving as our full-time school chaplain for the upcoming school year. Whether you need a quiet space to talk/pray, guidance through a difficult time, or simply a welcoming place to explore your faith, Chaplaincy is there for every student. Feel free to drop by the Chaplaincy office, next to the chapel, to say hello, ask questions, or set up a time to connect.
