Dear Wessagusset Families,
We are excited to invite you to our Open House tomorrow, September 29th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm! This special evening is a wonderful opportunity for families to step into their student’s world, meet teachers and staff, and explore the engaging learning environments we’ve created together.
During Open House, you’ll have the chance to:
-
Visit your child’s classroom and see their work on display
-
See daily routines, curriculum highlights, and classroom expectations
-
Meet other families and connect with our school community
-
Ask questions and share in the excitement of the new school year
We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success, and Open House is one of the many ways we build those connections.
We hope to see you there!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal
School Adjustment Counselor
A note from Mrs. Machado
Throughout the year many students may come home talking about how they went to Lunch Bunch with me. Here are a few FAQs about Lunch Bunch.
1. What is Lunch Bunch? Lunch Bunch is a fun way to get to know new friends, engage in conversation, play games, share stories and enjoy lunch somewhere other than the cafeteria.
2. Where is Lunch Bunch? Lunch Bunch is held in my office. Students report to the cafeteria like normal where they can get school lunch if they wish. I meet them there and together we walk to my office.
3. Why do we have Lunch Bunch? Lunch Bunch provides an environment where students can talk freely about their accomplishments or concerns. It is an opportunity to interact with their peers in a small group setting. Most students really enjoy coming to Lunch Bunch!
If you have any questions please contact me at 781-335-2210 ext 38308 or sarah.machadodeady@weymouthschools.org

Due to the overwhelming response—well beyond our original 25-spot limit—we will be holding six of the club sessions in the gym (a big thank-you to Ms. Maureen for making that possible!). Dear Wessagusset Families,
We hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful fall-like weather this weekend! Tomorrow, September 22nd at 2:19 p.m., fall officially begins.
We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful playground here at Wess. If your family plans to head to the playground after dismissal, we kindly ask that you use the sidewalk when walking over. Our school vans exit through the side parking lot, and it can be unsafe for children to cut through that area. Thank you for helping us keep all of our Wess students and families safe.
Picture Day is Tuesday, September 23rd! Get ready to show us your sparkle!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal

The Weymouth Food Pantry has partnered with Weymouth Public Schools to continue the Backpack Program, which provides food to participating students weekly to meet their nutritional needs over the weekend. Bags include items such as juice boxes, granola bars, mac & cheese cups, goldfish crackers, and milk. The menu will vary weekly.
School staff will prepare a bag of food for each child and discreetly put it in their backpack every Friday afternoon. These bags are free, open to all students, and sponsored by the Weymouth Food Pantry.
Please complete the form that will be sent home by your child’s teacher by Wednesday, 9/24/25 if your child would benefit from additional food over the weekends. All families are required to re-sign up annually to update and confirm any allergies and dietary needs. If you have any questions please contact our adjustment counselor at sarah.machadodeady@weymouthschools.org

Dear Wessagusset Families,
Last week was a fantastic start to the year! It has been wonderful to see our school filled with the joy, energy, and excitement that our students bring each day.
This week, our students and staff will be practicing important safety routines together.
- ALICE Emergency Training
- Exit Awareness
- Fire Drill Expectations
- Evacuation Locations
- Stay in Place / Lockdown Routines
Please know that these lessons are introduced in ways that are thoughtful and age-appropriate. While safety drills can sometimes feel a little unsettling, we take great care to explain them in a calm and supportive manner. Our goal is always to help children feel prepared and confident, not worried.
The safety of our students is our highest priority, and regular practice ensures that everyone knows what to do to stay safe. Thank you for partnering with us in making our school a safe and caring place to learn.
Musical Instrument Donation Opportunity If you have a musical instrument you no longer need, please consider donating it to our Grade 5 music program! Please email jean.gilbert@weymouthps.org for more information.
Please check out the latest edition of Weymouth Public School's Building Reader.
We are looking forward to a new week of learning and growing together!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Parent Council table at Food Truck Friday! We loved meeting you, chatting, and sharing ideas for the year ahead.
Stock the lounge is BACK!
Here’s how it works: Amy Robbins creates a monthly Amazon wishlist to help stock the teachers' lounge with snacks, treats, and drinks. Parents and guardians can easily order items from the wishlist, which are then shipped directly to Amy. Each month, typically during the first week, Amy delivers all the items to WESS, where she thoughtfully stocks the teachers' lounge and adds fresh decorations to create a welcoming and comfortable space. Please feel free to order something from the wishlist—your support goes to a wonderful cause and directly benefits our dedicated teachers! Check out the wishlist here!
Here’s to a fantastic school year full of learning, fun, and community!

August 18, 2025
Dear Wessagusset Families,
I want to thank you for making time to join the Parent Council gathering at the playground last Thursday evening so I could meet you. It was so nice to begin putting faces to the names I have been reading over the summer. As the new principal of Wessagusset Elementary, I am truly excited to join this community and begin this journey together. I bring almost ten years of experience as a school leader, but more importantly, I bring a deep love for working with children, supporting families, and building strong school communities. I am eager to get to know you and your children and to work alongside you to make this a wonderful year for every student.
The new school year is just around the corner, and we have been working hard this summer to prepare our school for all those smiling faces to walk through our doors on September 4th. Classrooms are being set up, hallways refreshed, and teachers are busy planning engaging lessons. We know the first days of school can bring both excitement and a few jitters, and our exceptional staff is ready to make every student feel welcomed, supported, and confident. A successful year is built on strong partnerships between home and school, and we look forward to working together to ensure that every child has a positive and rewarding year academically, emotionally, and socially.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to fostering a strong sense of belonging for our students, staff, and families. We strive to create an environment where every child feels safe, supported, and proud of who they are, and where staff feel respected and empowered to do their best work. Families, too, are an essential part of this partnership, and we value the unique perspectives and contributions each one brings to our school. When every member of our community feels seen, valued, and included, our school not only thrives, it becomes a place where everyone can learn, grow, and succeed together.
We are truly excited for the year ahead and the many opportunities it will bring for our students to learn, grow, and shine. Thank you for your partnership and support, you are an essential part of our school community. Mrs. Reinhart and I are proud to serve as your school leaders. You will see both of us out and about each day, greeting students, visiting classrooms, and connecting with families. Together, we are committed to ensuring every child feels welcomed, supported, and inspired to do their best.
As you read on, we hope you find the information below both informative and helpful as you plan for the new school year. Enjoy the remaining days of summer, and we look forward to welcoming our students in grade 1 through 5 on Thursday, September 4th, and our kindergarten students on Monday, September 8th, for a wonderful start to the school year!
With gratitude and excitement,
Mrs. Tanna Jango, Principal
Mrs. Heidi Reinhart, Assistant Principal
