A MESSAGE FROM OUR BELONGING COORDINATOR, MICHAELA ZELLI
Dear Families,
Every child deserves to come to school knowing there is a place for them, someone who cares about them, and an adult they can turn to when something feels wrong. Creating that experience takes all of us.
During October’s Bullying Prevention Month, we are focusing on how our words and actions help others feel connected. Inviting someone to join, checking in with a classmate, and asking for help when someone is being hurt are small actions that can make a meaningful difference.
On Wednesday, October 21, we invite students and staff to wear orange for Unity Day, a national event created by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Wearing orange is one way to show our shared commitment to a school where everyone belongs.
Recognizing and responding to bullying
Bullying can happen in person or online. Harmful behaviors may include name-calling, spreading rumors, physical aggression, or deliberately excluding someone. If something feels hurtful, unsafe, or concerning, please tell us so we can understand what happened and identify appropriate support.
Conversations to try at home
“When did you feel included today?”
“Did you notice anyone who might have needed someone to include them?”
“Who is an adult at school you could go to if you or someone else needed help?”
If your child shares a concern, listen, thank them for telling you, and reassure them that they do not have to handle it alone. For online concerns, save relevant messages or screenshots to share with the school.
Getting help
Please contact your child’s teacher, school counselor, or building principal with concerns. Students can also speak directly with a trusted adult at school.
Additional reporting options include Safe2Say Something and the District’s reporting forms.
Thank you for helping us build a school community where every child feels known, included, supported, and connected. The message we send on Unity Day matters; So do the everyday actions that follow it.

Advanced Placement Information (AP Classes)
Advanced Placement students will now see a “NO” on their CollegeBoard (CB) accounts for their exam(s) if they haven’t registered and paid in their account at TotalRegistration.net (TR). Once processed and paid for the exam in TR the CB account will flip the “NO” to a “YES.” The initial $10 late fee kicks in on October 30 and the full $42 late fee is initiated on November 6. If students or parents have any specific questions related to their AP accounts in CB or TR they can stop over to the east wing office or email pspiewak@methacton.org.
Free and Reduced Meal Application
In order for meal benefits to be received for the 2026-2027 school year, a new Free and Reduced Meal Application must be submitted. Meal benefits from the 2025-2026 school year expire on October 15, 2026. Please be sure to submit your Free and Reduced Meal Application at www.schoolcafe.com by October 9, 2026 in order to allow time to process the applications so there is no lapse in meal benefits.
Reminder: You must apply for Free and Reduced Meal benefits each year. Benefits do not carry over from the previous school year.
Please note that as a parent, you will be responsible for any charges incurred on your child's meal account until the date that meal benefits are approved for the 2026-2027 school year.

Help Show Appreciation for the Amazing Staff at MHS!
MHS Home and School
We need your help to create some fun surprise goodie bags for all of the staff at MHS! Help us show our teachers and support staff how much we appreciate all that they do each day.
If you are willing and able to help contribute to this cause we would need items dropped off to the high school by 9 am on October 15th. Items can be dropped on carts outside of the front doors of the main office or the East wing. The carts out there will be labeled in both locations "FALL HOME AND SCHOOL DROP".
The Student Hub Is Up and Running!
The Student Hub is a place where students can receive academic support. It is part of the high school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is a schoolwide framework designed to ensure that every student receives the support needed to succeed.
Academic support will be provided in the Student Hub. Students can access the Student Hub in two ways:
1. A teacher or student wants the student to get temporary help. In this case, the teacher signs the student up for a time. Students cannot miss a different scheduled class.
2. The school's MTSS team has identified the student to be at risk of failing a class and are requiring the student to visit the Student Hub. When this occurs, parents will be notified before the student is scheduled for support. This support will occur during the students' already scheduled study hall time.
In the Student Hub, students will be able to work with certified teachers, peer tutors, and/or utilize specific academic intervention programs.
Please feel free to reach out to your child's counselor or assistant principal if you'd like more information.
