Message from Superintendent Dr. Latrice N. Mumin

Greetings, CUSD Families!

As we make our way through April, it is hard to believe we are just under two months away from the end of the school year. This is an important time for our scholars as they continue to stay focused and finish the year strong.

April is also Autism Awareness Month, and schools across the district have been and will continue to recognize this month in meaningful ways. We are proud to raise awareness and support our scholars with autism, while continuing to foster inclusive and supportive learning environments for all.

I also want to remind families that today is a half day for scholars as we hold parent teacher conferences for the third marking period. We hope you are able to attend and connect with your child’s teachers.

As always, thank you and I hope you enjoy this edition of Clipper Connection.

Students Wow at Oratorical Contest & Art Competition

I had the pleasure of attending this year’s Frederick Douglass Oratorical Contest and Andrew Turner Art Competition, and I am incredibly proud of our scholars. From our youngest students reciting powerful excerpts to our high schoolers delivering original, personal speeches, each participant demonstrated remarkable courage and growth.

We also celebrated our student artists whose creativity was on full display throughout the evening.

None of this would be possible without Ms. Jean Arnold, whose continued dedication to this event makes a lasting impact on our students.
