Principal Note

The first month of school flew by! It is wild to think we are in October and the weather has been beautiful! Learning is in full swing as classes have implemented small groups and instruction is in a routine. Most classrooms have taken an assessment or two already.

Something new this year is that many assessments will be completed online through Canvas. Teachers are working to model this for students, so we expect this to take time. In the past students have had booklets to use for assessments, but due to funding prices the district put together online formats. Teachers will explain more about this at upcoming conferences!

We do encourage consistent attenance for students as every bit of the day matters. All learning and building relationships are crucial to students' achievement. I will be working on weekly attendance calls for those that have missed school consistently. Reminder to collect doctor's notes anytime you can and turn into the school.

Please reach out if you have any questions! We love seeing those little faces each day at school!

Halloween Festivities

We will celebrate Halloween on Wednesday, October 29th (due to no school on the 30th or 31st). Students will be able to bring in their Halloween costume to change in before their class parties. Teachers will hold a celebration in their classroom and then we will have a costume parade out on the playground for parents to come watch (indoors if weather doesn't cooperate) at 3:10pm. Parents can walk in on the playground and stand around the black top as students walk out with their class. Classes will walk back inside and dismiss at regular time. Please refrain from costumes that have weapons or are inappropriate to school. Reach out to Mrs. Felts if you have any questions.

Teachers will send out their own information about classroom celebrations. Some might need extra help and ask for volunteers, but it is not required. You will not be able to join your child's celebration without permission from the teacher and filled out a background check document prior to that day. Watch for more information to come home!

Bullying and Harassment Free District

The District is committed to providing all students with a safe learning environment in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The District’s Anti-Bullying, Harassment, and Hazing policy defines bullying and harassment as well as the procedures for reporting and investigating bullying or harassment complaints.

If your student feels they are being bullied or harassed, encourage your student to visit with the student involved and tell them to stop. They should also tell a teacher, principal, or trusted adult at their school. An online discrimination, bullying, harassment, and hazing complaint form is also available on the District’s website and may be completed by the student, parent, or school employee.
