The Weekly Buzz 🐝
From Palmer River Elementary School
June 14, 2024
Dear Palmer River School Community,
What an amazing week it has been! PRES's annual Field Day took place on Thursday, where students enjoyed a day filled with fun activities and games. Also this week, we were thrilled to have the Boosterthon crew here, engaging with our students in classrooms and joining them during lunches, all leading up to today's exhilarating Fun Run! It was an absolute blast for everyone involved, and we're delighted with the success of the event.
As we reflect on the week, we realize just how quickly the end of the school year is approaching. With two full days on Monday and Tuesday, followed by the Juneteenth Holiday on Wednesday and half days on Thursday and Friday, summer break is just around the corner.
However, our year isn't over yet! We still have a few more events lined up. Please take note of the important dates listed below as we continue to celebrate and make the most of our last days of the school year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Dr. Cheryl Leandro, Assistant Principal

Beckwith Middle School Fifth Grade and New Student Orientation
The move from elementary to middle school can make both students and parents anxious. To make this transition as smooth and as comfortable as possible, there was a “Step Up” Day for fourth grade students on June 11th, 2024, and we will be planning an orientation for parents and incoming fifth grade and new students for August 26th, 2024 starting at 6:00 p.m. at BMS.
Step Up Day was the first opportunity for fourth grade students to visit Beckwith Middle School during the school day. Students attended a presentation by administration and toured the building with students.
The August 26th orientation will take place right before school begins and will give the students a second opportunity to tour the school and learn about Beckwith Middle School. This time, parents will be invited, and we will go more in depth about Beckwith Middle School’s educational program.
Updated Physicals are Due to the Health Office
Per Massachusetts General Law 105 CMR 200.000, families are required to submit a physical examination report for their children to the school every three years. Additionally, an updated exam is required before children enter grade four.
If your child has had a physical examination since August 1, 2023, please forward a copy of their physical to the school on or before June 16, 2024. If your child has a physical scheduled for summer vacation, please forward to us after the appointment. Physicals can be submitted in one of the following ways:
Email: prupp@drregional.org or lsaxon@drregional.org
Fax: 508-252-5110
Paper Copy: Sent in your child’s backpack or dropped off at the school
Our goal is to ensure that each student’s health file is in compliance before summer vacation begins.
Health Office Housekeeping
Medication Pick -Up
If your child takes medication at school (EpiPen, inhaler, oral medication), please make arrangements with the health office to pick up your child's medication at the end of the year. Oral medications cannot be sent home on the bus for safety reasons and must be picked up during school hours.
Medication Orders School Year 2024-2025
The school nurse can administer any medication that your child may need during the school day, including oral medication, Epi Pens, inhalers ect. All medication requires an order from the physician and guardian consent in order for the school nurse to administer, including over-the-counter medication (eye drops, cough drops, ect.). Medications can only be accepted in a container labeled from the pharmacy. For safety reasons, medications must be dropped off by an adult and cannot be transported on the bus. A new medication order is needed each school year. Please complete the form below if your child will need medication administered at school next year.
