Doc Talk
We are officially at the start of Hexter 6, the final stretch of the school year, and we are looking forward to the great things ahead. This hexter brings a different kind of energy, one focused on finishing strong, celebrating milestones, and engaging in meaningful experiences.
One of the highlights of Hexter 6 will be our integrated curriculum on water. Students will have opportunities to explore this theme through hands-on learning, real-world connections, and a variety of engaging experiences- inside and outside of the classroom.
Field Experiences & Expectations
Hexter 6 includes several field experiences designed to extend learning beyond the classroom.
- Permission slips are required for participation. Please ensure these are completed and turned in on time. Due Friday, April 17
- Students are reminded that when they are off campus, they are ambassadors of Discovery High School. Expectations for behavior, language, and professionalism remain in place at all times.
These experiences are privileges, and we want every student to be able to participate.
๐Upcoming Testing: CMAS, SAT & PSAT
We have several important assessments coming up:
- CMAS(11th Graders/ Regular Day)- April 14
- PSAT (9th/10th Graders Only/ Half Day)- April 15
- SAT (11th Graders Only/Half Day) April 16
These tests are an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and growth. More detailed schedules will be shared, including adjusted days and early dismissal times due to testing and special events (see the "Upcoming Events" section for more info).
Please make sure students:
- Get proper rest
- Arrive on time
- Take testing seriously
๐ Schedule Updates
Due to testing and special events, schedules will be adjusted, and there will be early dismissal days.
Please be sure to:
- Review communication from the school
- Stay updated on schedule changes
- Plan accordingly for early release days
๐ตCell Phone Policy Reminder๐ต
Our cell phone policy remains in effect:
- No cell phone use during class time
- Allowed use before/after school, during passing periods, and at lunch, as long as it does not require immediate adult attention
- Maintaining focus during instructional time continues to support student success.
โ Attendance Matters
As we move through this final hexter, attendance is more important than ever.
Every missed day impacts learning, participation in field experiences, and progress toward finishing the year successfully. Students must stay engaged and present to make the most of these final opportunities.
Hexter 6 is about more than finishing; itโs about how we finish.
Take advantage of the opportunities. Represent your school with pride. Stay focused through testing and beyond. Be present for the experiences that make this time meaningful.
๐ฅWe are the Phoenix. Letโs rise and finish strong together.๐ฅ
