Madeira Elementary

It's been a wonderful couple of weeks here at MES! The students are really rocking our core expectations and getting into some awesome learning grooves within the classrooms. It's quite unbelievable that September is coming to a close and October is upon us. We have lots of exciting events and activities to fill the October month - from Walk to School day, to Veggie Tasting Tuesday, to conferences and fall break!

Take a look at the information below to stay up to date on all things happening around MES!

Take care,

Chandley

Every month this year, we will be holding grade level assemblies to celebrate and recognize students for showing our three core values throughout their day. Teachers select a few students each month that are recognized at the grade level assembly.

These assemblies are the highlight of my day! Seeing students be genuinely excited and supportive of those that are recognized is so great to see.

Since this is a new process for us we are still ironing out all of the routines and plans to get grade level photos each month of the recipients. For the month of September, please check out the photos below for our first round of student recognitions.

We are so grateful for our awesome families at MES! And we know many of you have that same feeling about our MES staff and all that they do to support your child(ren) every day. Please use this form to submit a note, a celebration, or just some uplifting words to a staff member here at MES. We'd love to hear about those special moments and can't wait to share your message with that team member! Thank you!

Dear Madeira Families,

As a service to the students and families of our community, the Helping Hands program is intended to facilitate Madeira’s ability to provide support for those of us in need through the school year. We understand that hardships can arise unexpectedly, and we know that there are many people in our town that very much want to help. Helping Hands is an effort to make the connections that help our community be a better place.

IF YOUR FAMILY NEEDS ASSISTANCE:

Families requesting assistance for Thanksgiving or for the Holidays, please reach out directly to your child’s school counselor and/or scan this QR code NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2024 if you are requesting Thanksgiving assistance. While we may not be able to cover every need, we will certainly make an effort to make the holiday season less stressful and more enjoyable for our community members in need. Throughout the process, be assured that procedures are in place to maintain the confidentiality and privacy of everyone involved.

IF YOUR FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO DONATE:

For families who would like to donate, we will be collecting gift cards again this year! We are asking that the value of each gift card not exceed increments of $50. The district-wide gift card collection will begin now and continue through December 8, 2024. Donations can be dropped off to any school building, or sent in with your student in an envelope addressed to a school counselor.

While all gift cards are accepted and appreciated, we are requesting gift cards from the following places:

• Kroger

Together, we are all Madeira Strong!

Sincerely,

Helping Hands

Love books and birthdays? Celebrate your child's birthday by donating a book in honor of her/his birthday to the MES Media Center's library collection! This program is supported through our MES PTO. You simply select a book from a curated wishlist. You can buy the book from the Amazon wishlist or through our local Madeira Bookstore, the Bookshelf. Books will be sent directly to MES. Once the book arrives, a personalized birthday book sticker will be placed inside the cover honoring your child's donation and their birthday, and your child will be the first one to check out the new library book! This is a fun way to help enhance our school library collection while also celebrating your child's birthday! Please contact Jessica Johnston, MES PTO library liaison, j.elaine.west@gmail.com with questions.
