Happy Wednesday Cherrydale Families,

November is a special month full of gratitude and community!

Honoring Our Veterans: To recognize the brave men and women who have served our country, our school sent a Star Project home with families. We invite families to help students complete a star in honor of a veteran they know. The stars will be proudly displayed at school as we celebrate Veterans Day.

We want to remind families that there is no school on Tuesday, November 11th: School will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.

PTA Recess Takeover – Tuesday, November 25th: Our amazing PTA is hosting a Recess Takeover! Families are encouraged to join the fun by volunteering during students’ lunch recess times. It’s a great way to connect with students and add some extra joy to the playground. Keep an eye out for sign-up information coming soon!

Thanksgiving Break: We will have a half day on Wednesday, November 26th, followed by no school on November 27th–28th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope everyone enjoys time with loved ones and returns rested and ready for December fun!

When your student will be late, leaving early, or absent altogether, please notify the office. If the Tardy, Early Release or Absence is due to an appointment, please bring a note from the doctor's office.

You MUST be a CLEARED volunteer to help with any events or to participate in anything on the Cherrydale Campus.

To get clearance so you can help with upcoming PTA events (or ANY Cherrydale events), click Volunteer at Cherrydale. The process can take up to 2 weeks. Once you are cleared you can let the PTA know of your interest and availability.

Accessing PTA info has become easier! Everything you need is on their Cherrydale PTA page. One stop shopping with all their links for joining the PTA, volunteer sign ups, fundraising and more!

Please consider joining the Cherrydale PTA. The best part about the PTA is that you can be as involved as much or as little as you'd like or can be! We have so many volunteer opportunities throughout the year, it's easy to get involved!

There are 2 primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program:

1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

We believe that all of us want the same things for our kids and these values unite us. This program serves to bring communities closer together based on these values-based goals. Ultimately, our purpose is to change the country for the better by doing our small part to provide support to our educators and encouragement to our children.

The Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit (CNEEB) Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits for Families Affected by the Government Shutdown

Due to the federal government shutdown, households of furloughed employees may be eligible for free or reduced-price meal benefits. A furlough is a unique situation where households may not have information on the duration of the furlough or the ultimate impact on the household income. While free or reduced-price meal eligibility is intended to reflect actual annual income, applications may reflect the current household situation.

Families whose household income has been impacted by the government shutdown are encouraged to apply for free/reduced-price meal benefits for their student(s). Information on completing the application form can be found on the district's website here.

Should the economic hardship due to the furlough be remedied, families whose applications were approved should terminate or update their free/reduced price status.

As of this year, all Cherrydale students will have the opportunity to have one breakfast and one lunch for free every day! If a student chooses a second entrée or beverage, it will be charged to student’s account.
