CSHS Parent Newsletter
February 2023
Greetings Panther Nation!
Happy Valentine's Day Panther Family! I hope you are able to share some love with those around you today.
Progress report averages will be loaded this Wednesday, February 15, and should be visible in Home Access Center soon. Please encourage students to turn in any missing work that will still be accepted AND to stay after in tutoring to make up tests or other missing assignments.
Last week we completed our Kindness Bringing Out the Best Lesson. This month's character trait is KINDNESS. Please speak to your scholars about how how being kind to others can change the world. We also encourage families to try the kindness challenge! Use the link here or click on the picture above.

Course Requests 23-24
Dear Panther Families,
It's that time of year again where we are asking for you to choose what classes your student will be taking next year. You have until WEDNESDAY MARCH 8TH to have the course selections entered into Xello. Your student should be able to log into Xello through their classLink and adjust their classes with the Course Planner.
Your student's counselor will be going over requests with students and can provide guidance as needed. Families are encouraged to look through the Course Description Booklet to find all classes offered in CFISD. If you have questions, use the contact information on the bottom of this newsletter to reach out to the correct party.
After March 8th no changes in Xello will be captured. At that point you will need to reach out directly to the student's counselor to make an adjustment to course requests. There will be a digital course verification process like last year with one small difference: NO COURSE REQUEST CHANGES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER APRIL 30TH 2023.
Today in Black History
On February 14, 1818 in Talbot County Maryland, Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey was born- years later to become one of America's greatest orators: Frederick Douglass.
Born a slave, after escaping slavery Douglass became one of the world's foremost abolitionist and human rights leaders. Douglass was known for his brilliant and persuasive oratory which drew listeners of all races to hear him expound upon the merits of freedom for all people. His famous "Fourth of July" speech illustrated the mastery of his intellectual persuasion and boldness to speak the truth regardless of any personal consequences.
He was named Minister-Resident and Consul-General to Haiti on July 1, 1889. Douglass was the first African American to have a position that high in the United States Government. Douglass died on February 20, 1895 in Washington, DC at age 77.
