Preparing for Success

The first days of school are always filled with a mixture of excitement, anticipation, and perhaps a bit of nervousness. It has been heartwarming to witness the students' enthusiasm and their eagerness to engage in the learning process. Our dedicated team of educators has been working diligently to create an environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and a passion for learning.

During these early days, we are laying the foundation for an enriching academic year ahead. The relationships that our students build with their peers, teachers, and staff members play a pivotal role in their overall development. Encouraging open communication, empathy, and respect within the school community is a shared responsibility, and I encourage you to reinforce these values in your home as well.

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful long weekend, and we look forward to seeing your children on Tuesday!

Warmly,

Mr. Lynch

8:05AM Bell - What does it mean for you?

Please remember that the 8:05am bell is a reminder for all of us:

  • for students to make their way to their classroom lines
  • for parents to make their way to the campus exits
  • for teachers to pick up students at their lines and begin the day.

The 5 minutes between the 8:05AM Warning Bell and the 8:10AM Start-of-School bell is an important window of time for students to settle their bodies and ready their minds for the day ahead. Our campus supervisors are here to make sure all students are safe, so parents and family members, please say your goodbyes and make your way to the gates to enjoy your day as well. All gates will be locked promptly at 8:10am.

Excessive Heat Protocols

The heat is here, but we're keeping our cool! A big THANK YOU to our campus supervisors who make sure our Tigers remain cool, hydrated, and make use of the shady and air conditioned areas that are always available on especially warm days. We will continue to follow district guidance by making the air conditioned MPR available during recesses when the temperature reaches the mid-90's. When the temperature reaches 98+ degrees, all lunch and recesses will take place in air conditioned buildings. Be assured, our students' safety is always our first priority.

Please Note:

To support the effectiveness of this new policy, any phone and/or watch with messaging capabilities (even without SIM card or on "school mode") may NOT be on a student's person during school hours. These devices should either be left at home or placed securely in your child's backpack. During the school day, ALL student-home communications will take place through the Wildwood office. Thank you for your cooperation.

Wildwood Birthday Guidelines

At Wildwood Elementary, we love celebrating students on their birthdays! Please know that you do not need to send treats or gifts—our teachers take great pride in making sure each child feels special on their big day.

If you’d like to contribute something, please:

  • Do not send food items (including for before- or after-school distribution).

  • Instead, consider small non-edible items (stickers, pencils, etc.) or a class gift such as a board game, book, or puzzle labeled with your child’s name and birthday.

Birthday Party Invitations
To keep things fair and inclusive, staff has agreed on the following guidelines:

  • TK & Kindergarten: Teachers may assist in placing invitations in Wednesday folders only if the entire class is invited.

  • Grades 1–5: Students may pass out invitations after school and outside the classroom if the entire class is invited.

  • If only some students are invited, invitations may not be distributed at school.

By working together, we can make sure every birthday is joyful while supporting the wellness and sense of belonging of all members of our Tiger family.

Visitors & Volunteers

My mother always told me "Many hands make light work", and that's certainly true in education. We want you on campus with us! All adults entering the campus during school hours must sign in electronically with their picture ID in the front office and obtain a visitor or volunteer badge/sticker to be worn at all times while on campus. All volunteers who work with students must have a current TB test or a Risk Assessment Questionnaire on file as well. If you would like to volunteer on campus, and we hope you do, please complete and return the Volunteer Registration Authorization Packet that will be sent home with students on the first day of school. Attach a copy of your license/ID to the packet, or we will make a copy for you in the office on your first visit.

Attendance

If your child will be absent or arriving late for any reason, please remember to call our office or leave a message on our attendance line at (805) 492-3531 before 8:30am. Be sure to state the date and reason for your child’s absence or late arrival, and your child’s teacher or room number. Any unexcused absence is counted as a truancy. Students are allowed only three truancies per year before action is taken. Planning ahead with your child will also help to avoid unnecessary tardiness. Students who arrive on time feel better about themselves and perform better in the classroom.

Please click the "Digital Backpack" image to check if any new community fliers have been posted recently. Not all fliers will appear as images in our Wildwood Weekly newsletter, and we don't want you to miss out on community events, classes, or opportunities that are of interest to you. Fliers are organized under three tabs:

  • School-Connected Organizations and Governmental Agencies
  • Non-Profit Groups
  • All Other Groups

From time to time, individuals or groups in the community will distribute information and advertisements to parents/guardians on the public sidewalks during school arrival or dismissal. This information is not affiliated or endorsed by Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD. Any approved communications (i.e. announcements, fliers) from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD will be provided directly from the school to you via email, or given to your students to take home. If you ever are unsure whether or not materials are from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.
