Campus Administrator ~ Ann Flanagan

We’ve made it to Fall Break, and what a journey it’s been so far!

The first part of the school year has been filled with growth, learning, creativity, and fun.. Whether it was navigating new routines, diving into challenging material, or cheering on our students as they explored their talents in the classroom, on the stage, or on the field, we’ve seen incredible progress and spirit from our middle schoolers.

This break is well-deserved for students, families and educators. We hope you take this time to relax, have fun with your families, and enjoy the Fall weather. Encourage your children to reflect on how far they’ve come already and remind them that every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.

We’re so proud of all the hard work our students (and YOU, their biggest supporters!) have put in. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey. We look forward to coming back energized and ready for an even stronger second quarter.

Wishing you a joyful and restful Fall Break!

Dino founded Project Reboot at UC Berkeley; his science-backed approach (in partnership with UC Berkeley neuroscientists) helps families take control of technology, not ban it. Hello WMS Families!

Beginning Quarter 2, students will be jumping into Naviance to begin activities, lessons and discussions related to their future pathway(s). Students will engage in college and career searches that will help them make informed decisions about their future (i.e., course selection in High School, opportunities to earn an industry certificate, understanding the cost of higher education, etc.). Students are able to access Naviance through their student portal and below is more information about why this is important in their educational journey:

CLINIC CLINIC

From the Clinic

Parents of 6th grade students:

The Tdap vaccine is required for all 6th grade students. This was not previously required for elementary school and is different than the Dtap vaccines children receive below the age of 7. If your student has not received the Tdap vaccine or you have not turned in proof of vaccination to the clinic, your student is considered non-compliant. Vaccine compliance is crucial for protecting individuals from potentially infectious diseases. Please call Nurse Brenna at 720-554-5117 with any questions.

What does the Tdap vaccination protect against? It protects against infections caused by diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and pertussis (whooping cough).

  • Diphtheria is a serious illness that can cause breathing difficulties, heart problems, nerve damage, pneumonia, and possibly death. The risk of serious complications and death is greater in very young children and in the elderly.

  • Tetanus (also known as lockjaw) is a serious illness that causes convulsions (seizures) and severe muscle spasms that can be strong enough to cause bone fractures of the spine. Tetanus causes death in 30 to 40 percent of cases.

  • Pertussis (also known as whooping cough) is a serious disease that causes severe spells of coughing that can interfere with breathing. Pertussis can also cause pneumonia, long-lasting bronchitis, seizures, brain damage, and death.

RIDING THE BUS RIDING THE BUS

User uploaded image

Transportation is required by CDE Regulations to account for all students on the bus and unauthorized passengers are not permitted. However, the Transportation Department recognizes that circumstances may arise, e.g. a family emergency, parents out of town, etc., when a student needs to ride home with another student on a one-time only basis. The student must get off at the assigned stop of the student they are riding with (no exceptions).

Make sure to fill out and turn in the linked Permission Slip to the Campus Admins office no later than 9:00 AM on the requested ride date. Forms can be printed and handed to the Campus Admins Assistant. Hard copies of the form can be picked up from the Campus Admins office if they are needed but must be picked up prior to the day they need to ride a different bus. No emails will be accepted. If there is an emergency, please call the Campus Admins office at 720-554-5155.
