Spencer Elementary June 5, 2026
What a fun Field Day! I think it's safe to say that a good time was had by all! Thank you to our amazing PTO and volunteers who came together to make this day possible. It is a day that all of our students look forward to and enjoy.
A few items as we prepare for our last 3.5 days of the 2025-2026 school year:
- Dismissal Time for the Last Day - On the last day of school, the bell will ring at 12:50 PM.
- 4th Grade Clap Out - We invite all 4th grade families to join us on June 11th at 12:20 PM to congratulate and wish our 4th graders well as they graduate from Spencer and embark on their journey to Maltby Intermediate School. Families are invited to line up on the sidewalk along the drop off lane at 12:20 PM. The 4th grade teachers will be starting in the back of the building and leading their classes to the front where families will be able to clap and cheer for their favorite 4th grader. Once all of the classes have passed, parents who wish to sign their child out may do so by meeting their child's teacher on the Southeast side of the building near the Friendship Center/Multipurpose Room doors. If you have other children at Spencer, they will be dismissed at 12:50 PM. If your child will be riding the bus home they will stay with their teacher until dismissal.
- Backpacks - The last day for students to bring backpacks will be Wednesday, June 10th.
- Busses on the Last Day - Please note that busses may run a bit behind on the last day of school. We will, as always, do our best to expedite dismissal.

Hello Roadrunner Families,
It is hard to believe but we are in our last week of school. Since our half day does not end until 12:50pm, we will be providing a pizza 'snack' picnic for students around 11am on the last day (6/11/26). We will have both cheese and pepperoni options from Dominos. If your student does not like pizza or has a special dietary need, feel free to send them a bigger snack to enjoy at that time.

Hello Readers:
The week of May 26th will be the last week of the school year for book checkout. All books and fines are due by Friday, June 5th. Classrooms that have all books turned in and fines paid that day will be entered to win a pizza lunch with me during the last week of school.
If your student owes money for a lost or damaged book, the preferred method is for you to buy an exact, brand-new copy of the book and send it in with a note so we can update your child's account.

This is your last chance to get a yearbook I only have 4 copies available for purchase in the office if you didn't have the opportunity to purchase one online. They are $20, and are "first come, first serve". You can email me at berryl@brightonk12.com if you would like to reserve a copy for your student, or if you would like to confirm if you ordered one. I will be giving them to the teachers on Monday to pass out to the students.

Upcoming Events -
June 10th - Talent Show (held during school hours at 2:30pm) Please be aware that only the parents of the performers are permitted to attend the show following a background check.
Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.
You will find the Drop Off Cabinet near the main entrance to the school. Here you will put those forgotten items that your student may need. Simply fill out the small slip of paper with the student's name and teacher, and a staff member will deliver the item to your student.
**NEW LOCATION**
Our Food Pantry and Lost & Found are both located in the front of the school near Door #3.
Please remember to send your child to school each day with a refillable water bottle with their name on it. Spencer has water refilling stations throughout the building and we encourage students to drink water throughout the day.
Please remember to bring your ID with you EVERY day you come to pick up your student! We frequently have substitute teachers that will not recognize you and will send you back to your vehicle to get your ID before releasing your child to you. This is for the safety and security of your student.
If you are planning to volunteer in classrooms or on field trips this year, you must fill out a background check. This needs to be done each year and if you have students in other buildings around the district, you only have to fill out the form one time and indicate which buildings you would like to volunteer in.
