MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles,
I must take a moment to shine a light on a few extraordinary leaders as Assistant Principal Appreciation Week draws to a close. Our school is blessed to have three dedicated assistant principals working together to make our school stronger, brighter, and better every single day; Dr. Nicole Luke (7th-8th), Michael Meadows (9th-10th), and Adrienne Morales (11th-12th). They are AMAZING human beings!
Each of them brings a unique blend of compassion, investment in the work, and unwavering commitment to our students, staff, and families. Whether it’s stepping into a tough situation with grace, celebrating a student’s growth, or quietly handling a hundred behind-the-scenes details, they do it all with heart, humanity, and humility. Together, we keep our school moving forward. I’m beyond grateful for these three leaders. Thank you to the students, staff, and parents who celebrated our assistant principals this past week.
Onward and upward,
~Principal Banks

ACT Update for Junior Families
11th grade families, please see the letter and additional guidance that was sent on Friday regarding a decision to retest. Please note, that a decision to retest does not mean they take the best of the two scores. If you decide to retest, the scores from Tuesday, 4/8 are completely thrown out and the only score that counts is the retest score. The retest date will be communicated later this week, but will be between 4/22 and 5/2. HERE is the form that must be completed by Monday, 4/14 at 4pm if you want to opt for a retest. Please send any questions to AP Meadows (mmeadows@cps.edu).

IMLS Funding Cuts and Their Impact on CPS Libraries
We are writing to share the difficult news that recent federal budget decisions have resulted in significant cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which directly impact our work and the resources we are able to provide across Chicago Public Schools.
One of the major impacts is to the Per Capita Grant, which awarded CPS $78,665.00 for use in the 2025–2026 school year. While we will still allocate this funding toward districtwide services, including digital databases and ebooks that benefit students and teachers throughout CPS, this cut represents a substantial loss that may affect the breadth of our offerings in future years.
Additionally, the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program—which has played a crucial role in supporting librarian professional development and recruitment—is also affected by these cuts.
📢 Raise Awareness Librarians and library administrators must help their governing bodies understand what’s at stake. Whether you work in a public, school, academic, or special library, it is crucial that trustees, school board members, or other decision-makers recognize the vital role IMLS funding plays in sustaining library services and access to resources in our communities. Please consider speaking to your principal, LSC, and/or school community about the IMLS funding cuts.
🗣️ Make Your Voices Heard We must come together as a community to urge Congress to restore this critical funding. Your voice—combined with others from the American Library Association and Illinois Library Association—can make a powerful impact. Please take a moment to reach out to your lawmakers and share your perspective. You can find your congressional representatives here:
