Dear Falcon Families,

Parent Conference week is here! Students will be dismissed every day at 1:15 pm. When you arrive for your conference before or after school, you may enter campus through the gate and go directly to your teacher's classroom. You do not need to check in through the office. A reminder that Wednesday is a non-student day. Please be safe and patient at pick-up each day this week. Also our Scholastic Book Fair is open all week from 1:15 pm - 3:00 pm in our library. Please drop in and shop!

We are holding our first ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) Meeting this Friday after our Friday flag assembly in the MPR. All parents of our English learners are invited to attend. We look forward to seeing you!

Saturday School this Saturday, September 27th. Invitations will be sent this week. Any students who have an absence are able to attend Saturday school to make up their absence. Saturday school is from 8:00-12:15 pm. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Please RSVP to the invitation, including your plans to order breakfast and lunch.

PTA News: our PTA is hosting our Book Fair this week and are also busy planning our Trunk or Treat event taking place on Friday, Oct. 24th. If you'd like to help plan this or any other PTA events, please reach out to our PTA President, Stephanie Guinn @ ferndrpta@gmail.com. Students submitting an entry for the PTA Reflections contest are due Oct. 3rd to the office. See the flyer below for more information. Finally, we are anticipating the arrival of Spirit Wear orders on Oct. 3rd. Stay tuned for more information about delivery.

A huge thank you to the many parents who have nominated themselves to represent the parent voice on our SSC! Linked here is the ballot for all FD parents to submit their vote. Voting will close this THURSDAY at 4:00 pm.

Please take a moment to cast your vote for TWO parents who will each serve a two year term.

Our first SSC meeting for the year will be on Thursday, October 2nd at 3:00 pm in our Steam Lab.

Support our 6th graders for Outdoor Ed Camp! Get a cool treat after school on Thursday.

Kona Ice will be here once a month as a sixth grade fundraiser for camp.

This Friday, September 26th, from 12:15-1:00 pm

• See the flyers below with information on local eateries that are partnering with us for a fundraiser on that day. Jersey Mikes and Panda Express are partnering with us!
• Bring your chairs and picnic blankets to set up and enjoy your lunch with your Falcon.
• The MPR Gate will be opened at approx. 12:00 pm for families to set up. Please DO NOT go to classrooms before 12:15, unless you are a TK or K parent.
• Lunch will be from 12:15 -1:00 pm for all students. Students will then return to their classrooms at 1:00 pm to be dismissed at 1:15 pm by their teacher.
• Students in grades TK-3 will be met by their parent at their classroom.
• Students in grades 4-6 will be released to the blacktop to find their parent. Please let your child know what general area you plan to sit in.
• For their safety, NON-SCHOOL AGE siblings are not permitted to play on the playground and students must play on their designated playground; primary or upper grade.
• Finally, a reminder that parents of students in grades 1-6 will enter the event through our Fern Drive MPR gate. You will not enter through the front main gate or the office.
• TK & K parents will enter campus through the Fern Drive Library gate and will be permitted a little before 12:15 to pick up their student as our littlest Falcons need a bit more time and have the farthest walk.
• Many of the lunch tables will be reserved for students who need to sit there.
• School lunch will still be available to all students on this day.

Encore here at Fern Drive is planning to expand our after school programs for grades TK-6 starting in January 2026! If you’d like your student to be part of this opportunity, please take a moment to express your interest by October 31st by clicking the link below or scanning the QR code on the flyer. If your student is currently in Encore, you do not need to do anything.

Your feedback will help us plan for the best possible program experience for your family. If you have questions, please contact the Encore programs office.

Exciting news! Mark your calendars for the Champions for Children Block Party on Saturday, October 18th, at Pacific Drive Elementary School. This family-friendly event will provide valuable information and interactive activities for parents and students. Additionally, we will host a community resources fair and opportunities for families to celebrate their cultures through cultural performances, displays, and interactive experiences. Plus, it’s a SSOAR Saturday School, giving students a chance to make up for an absence! Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

Attendance is key in student achievement and success at school.

Thank you for ensuring your Falcon attends school on time every day that they are healthy.

If your child will be absent, please use this google form to clear their absence. You may also call the school attendance line to clear an absence. Independent Study MUST be requested on THE DAY of the absence. For vacations, parents must request Independent Study TWO weeks before the absence.

Each week we hold a raffle for class attendance. Each day, if the class has 100% attendance, the teacher sends a raffle coupon up to the office. On Friday's we draw a primary and upper grade class winner. The winning class receives 3 class Gotcha's, a 10 minute extra recess and has the Falcon mascot in their room for the week.

Lunch and breakfast will continue to be free for all students daily. We will still do a lunch count daily so please discuss with your student the importance to take a correct lunch count. Some students bring a lunch to school and then at lunchtime go get a school lunch. This results in some lunch shortages of the choice meal that day. Lunch options are still available and all children will be fed but often when this happens, the "lunch of the day" runs out. Please review with students the importance of this an accurate lunch count.

• You can drop off meds anytime starting now between 9 AM - 2 PM through the first day of school.
• You will need the IHP form - linked here

A reminder, if your child will need crutches or a cast and/or splint to begin the year, or any time during the year, please fill out this form and bring your child by the office to check in. We will need to ensure their safety prior to entering campus.

As always, please call the office with any health-related information, questions and/or concerns regarding your child.
