🌰 MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
MGES Families,
We were so excited to see so many families participate in our first Donuts with Grownups event this week! A huge thank you to our amazing PTO and volunteers for organizing and supporting this special morning.
As a friendly reminder, when parking in our lot, please be sure not to block other vehicles and only use designated parking spaces. Your cooperation helps to ensure that our event remains safe for all attendees.
Attendance Reminders:
-
Any changes to dismissal times, dismissal locations, or early dismissals should be emailed to your child’s classroom teacher and copied to mgesattendance@udsd.org, or submitted through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
-
All dismissal changes should be sent by 3:00 PM to both the teacher and mgesattendance@udsd.org. Changes after 3:00 PM must be called in to the main office at 215-643-3421.
-
When students are absent, please send an excuse note within three days of the absence. Information submitted through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal counts as an excuse note (except for educational travel requests).

💡HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE GLEN
Fire Safety Assembly 🔥🚒
This week, our students participated in a wonderful Fire Safety Assembly led by the Fort Washington Fire Station. Students learned why we recognize Fire Safety Awareness Week, what to do in the event of a fire emergency, and how to create a family evacuation plan to stay safe. We are so grateful to our brave first responders for taking the time to educate our students and for all they do to protect our community each and every day!
🍩 Donuts with Grownups
Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Donuts with Grownups event! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying breakfast together and connecting as part of our Maple Glen community. Events like these remind us how important the partnership between home and school is in supporting our students’ growth and success. A special thank you to our amazing PTO for organizing and helping run this event—we truly appreciate your time, effort, and continued support!
🍎 SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
💜 PURPLE OUT FOR RETT!
We will be recognizing Rett Syndrome Awareness Month in support of several MGES students. Please wear purple on Friday, October 17th.
SPIRIT DAY
🧡 CELEBRATING UNITY DAY
On October 22, all UDSD elementary schools will recognize Unity Day, a national event that promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Students are invited to wear orange—a bright, visible color to symbolize that kindness and connection make our schools stronger.
Maple Glen Book Fair
Parents - It's almost time for the 2025 Maple Glen Book Fair! This year's fair will be held from October 21-October 25. Your children will visit the fair during their regular library hours. If your child is absent during their scheduled time, please send them in with their money the following day. I will ensure they get a chance to visit.
The Book Fair will be open for parents on Thursday, October 23rd from 5pm to 7pm in the library. Feel free to contact Mr. Meyer if you have any questions - tmeyer@udsd.org.
Maple Glen Elementary is excited to be able to invite families to our annual Halloween Parade!
Get Ready For The MGES Halloween Parade! Our Maple Glen staff is excited to host our Halloween Parade on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 9:30 am! The parade will be held outside in our B-wing playground area and the front of the building.
A Few Important Reminders:
- We kindly ask that ALL costumes are easy to put on and take off, and not gruesome or violent (blood, weapons, etc).
- It is recommended that our younger students wear their costumes to school as long as students are able to comfortably move around in them (masks can only be worn during the parade). Teachers will provide students time to change out of their costumes after the parade.
- In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be canceled. Unfortunately, there is no rain date for this event. Every effort to have a Parade will occur and this call will only be made on Parade Day.
- Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to provide our students with a safe and memorable Halloween Parade!
