A Summer Prayer 🙏

For more light in the day, we thank you,

For gentle mornings, we thank you,

For nighttime conversations, we thank you,

For friends and family, we thank you,

For gardens and all manner of creatures, we thank you.

Help us, Creator and lover of our souls.

Help us love this earth.

Help us dwell wholeheartedly in our lives this day.

Help us pray as we walk, work, play, rest, and create.

Amen.

Summer greetings!

Just three more Summer Fridays remain before we are together again! Campus is still bustling with activity as VBS comes to a close this week. Beginning next week, we will officially close our facilities as we make final preparations for the return of students.

Classroom floors will be buffed and waxed, our restrooms are receiving a fresh coat of paint, new furniture is being installed, and the entire campus will undergo a much-needed deep cleaning.

Our administrative team has been hard at work ordering and checking in textbooks, refining systems and processes, and welcoming new families through enrollment. We are already excited to welcome our newest Bruin families to campus. I encourage all of our families to extend a warm welcome during the first days of school as these students and families transition into our community.

I hope you enjoy these final weeks of summer and have the opportunity to make lasting memories with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus very soon.

Sincerely,

Mr. Ryan Nearhoff

Mrs. Kathryn Hnatiuk - Intervention/Resource and Student Council Moderator

We are pleased to welcome into our Bruin staff family, Mrs. Kathryn Hnatiuk, as our Intervention/Resource teacher and our Student Council Moderator. Mrs. Hnatiuk is a parent of five St. Dorothy Bruins (two of them alums) with years of experience in education. For the past several years Mrs. Hnatiuk has served as a substitute in our classrooms as well as lending her time and service to many of our extra-curricular programs. We are very glad to have her on staff to work with students in our STEP program. Additionally, she will be serving as our Student Council moderator and working with Ms. Ruiz to establish our Tracked Math program for our junior high students. She will be a great addition to our school community and we are looking forward to being able to provide targeted academic supports. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Hnatiuk to our team!

CALLING ALL COACHES 🏀🏈⚽🏐 CALLING ALL COACHES 🏀🏈⚽🏐

As we begin preparing for the 2026-2027 school year, we’re excited to start building our

coaching teams for the upcoming sports season. The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) offers

a wide range of sports across fall, winter and spring, and we’d love to get a head start by

identifying interested parent volunteers now.

If you have a passion for sports and enjoy working with students, we invite you to consider

coaching one of our teams. Early planning will help us stay ahead with registrations, scheduling,

and coach certifications so our athletes can have the best experience possible.

Coaching is a great way to fulfill your mandatory parent hours while making a meaningful impact

on our student athletes. All coaches will be required to have completed Virtus training. Early

commitment helps ensure all requirements are met in time for the season.

Fall Sports include:

  • Girls Volleyball
  • Flag Football
  • Cross-Country (A, B, and C level)

Winter sports include:

  • Girls & Boys Basketball
  • Bowling
  • Cheer, Song, or Dance (A, B, and C level)

Spring sports include:

  • Girls & Boys Soccer
  • Girls Softball
  • Boys Volleyball
  • Track & Field (A, B, and C level)
  • Golf (offered fall, winter, and spring)

Our A-level teams are for 7th -8th grade.

Our B-level teams are for 5th - 6th grade.

Our C-level teams are for 3rd - 4th grade.

If you’re interested in coaching any of these sports, please email Mr. Nearhoff as soon as

possible. Early planning allows us to register teams on time and create a smooth schedule for

practices and games.

CHILD SAFETY 🚨 CHILD SAFETY 🚨

Did You Know?

July 18-19 || What is Generative Artificial Intelligence?

Generative Artificial Intelligence is technology that allows a user to create new or alter existing images, videos, or text, based on user prompts or requests. It can be misused to create AI-generated child sexual abuse material, including sexually explicit or exploitative images that depict real children. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, this technology is being used to exploit children, particularly in the creation of GAI Child Sexual Abuse Material, often generated from images that have already been posted or shared online. In many cases, the offenders were people who knew the child victims well. For more information, visit https://www.missingkids.org/theissues/generative-ai.

Mission Statement

To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.

Philosophy

Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.

In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
