9/17/2021: Growing Our Community

Hello Lutherville families!

This week started with the gift of our butterflies emerging from their chrysalis's and the joy of students releasing them outside. We are enjoying seeing a similarly transformative process occur as our students grow into their best selves a little more here each day.

We started outdoor lunches this week when the weather cooperated, and the students did an excellent job. Looking forward to enjoying more outdoor lunch with beautiful fall weather ahead. If you can help out between 10:20 - 2:00 on a weekday, please fill out this form!

Next week -- a full 5 day week! -- we have a few events to highlight:

  • Thursday is Food Truck Night!
  • Friday is Spirit Wear day
  • 4th and 5th grade will be taking the MSDE mandated Early Fall Assessment
  • Student Handbook Talks are in process -- please return the acknowledgement form when it comes home to you

In partnership for our students,

-Mr. McComb

Student Clubs -- Initial Deadline Sunday!

To allow a bit more time for families, we've extended the initial deadline for the club survey to this Sunday night. On Monday, club sponsors will begin sorting responses, navigating interest and developing rosters. We expect sponsors will be in touch with invitations and more specific information by the end of next week.

If clubs still have space, we will share ongoing opportunities to join those clubs as the year progresses. Please see a documents with club descriptions attached and complete this survey with your preferences by Sunday, September 19th, if you have not done so already.

Instruction During Health Exclusions

In the case of a student needing to be excluded from school due to COVID illness or COVID quarantine or isolation as indicated by a health professional, the information below broadly outlines what a family can expect.

  • The school will communicate access to learning, including technology and materials needed (devices should be coming home with students each day)
  • Students will receive asynchronous work to complete through Schoology OR they will receive paper/pencil work to complete during the school day (this is based on what teachers provide, not family choice)
  • Supplemental learning will be provided. Students will have the opportunity to work with a BCPS teacher tutor outside of school hours.
  • A schedule for access to tutoring services will be provided to families. Tutoring will take place through Google Meets.

Central Area Education Advisory Council

The Central Area Education Advisory Council will next meet on Wednesday Sept. 22nd, 2021, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. via Zoom. The topic of the meeting is recruiting and retaining quality teachers.

Parents, teachers, and students are invited to share their views or if they have any questions regarding BCPS. RSVP to CentralAreaEAC@gmail.com.

Join information is included in the "CAEAC" attachment.
