IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Please Remember:
MORNING AND AFTERNOON DROP OFF AND PICK UP
- Our building opens at 7:00 am. Please use the front drop off lanes to let students out where staff members will be assisting students. Please remember that the front parking lot is a staff parking lot - DO NOT let students out in the middle of the parking lot. Please use the drop off lanes. These procedures are the same for afternoon car pick up.
- When students enter the building, they may go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast, or 4th/5th grades to the theater and 6th/7th grades to the gym.
- Afternoon dismissal- If you arrive to get in the car line before 2:25 pm, please do not block both lanes in front of the building. Please line up in the right-hand lane only.
DAILY REMINDERS
- Please make sure your student comes prepared with the things they need for the day- backpacks, iPads, water bottles, lunch, tennis shoes for PE, and necessary classroom items.
CHANGE OF TRANSPORTATION
- If you need to make a change of afternoon transportation, please follow these procedures:
- Email all of your student's core teachers asking them to communicate the change of afternoon transportation. In your email, ask that teachers respond to you to let you know that the change has been communicated to your student.
- if you have not received confirmation of the communicated change by 2:00pm, please call the front office.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Maryville City Schools parent note policy has changed this year. Please read the updated policy below and take this into consideration.
SCHOOL CASH ONLINE
Maryville City Schools uses School Cash Online for parents to pay school fees, Ipad protection fees, and field trip fees. Please use the guide below to set up your account.
MCS OPTIONAL iREACH PROTECTION PLAN
We encourage families to consider enrolling in the Maryville City Schools Device Protection Plan before the start of the school year. For just $25 per student, the MCS Device Protection Plan helps protect against accidental damage, including cracked screens, broken keyboards, spills, and more.
The plan can help families avoid unexpected repair costs while ensuring students get back to learning as quickly as possible. Review the flyer below for coverage details and consider enrolling before the school year begins.
Payment can be made with cash, check, credit card, online at mcs.schoolcashonline.com, or by scanning the QR code.
STAYING CONNECTED WITH MARYVILLE CITY SCHOOLS
We know how important it is for families to stay informed and engaged in their child’s education. That’s why we offer several easy-to-use tools to help you stay connected throughout the school year:
MCS App
Download the Maryville City School District app on your iPhone or Android device. This is your one-stop shop for accessing your student’s class schedule, attendance, grades, lunch balance, and more. If you need login assistance, please email us at mcs@maryville-schools.org.
LOOP Messaging
This year, all two-way communication between teachers and families will take place through email at CGIS. Teachers may share other ways to communicate that are specific to their teams. There is a new messaging system through Loop that some Maryville Schools are piloting, but CGIS is not using that system yet except to send one way email, text and phone messages to families.
MCS Athletics App - BallFrog
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Maryville High School Rebels athletics app, powered by BallFrog! This dynamic platform offers everything you'd expect from a collegiate-level athletic app—team rosters, schedules, ticket purchases, live streaming, action photos and videos, social media, Rebel swag, and more. Download it now by searching Maryville High School Rebels in your app store.
Staying connected has never been easier!
If you have questions, please email Maria Greene at maria.greene@maryville-schools.org

STATE OF TENNESSEE ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICES LAW
MCS SCHOOL POLICY ON CELL PHONES
UPDATED CELL PHONE AND WEARABLE DEVICE POLICY
At the June Board of Education meeting, the School Board approved updates to Policy 6.312 in response to a new Tennessee state law (HB 932/SB 897). This legislation restricts the use of personal wireless communication devices, such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and similar items, in schools.
Our policy requires that these devices be turned off and stored out of sight for the entire school day, unless specifically permitted for educational purposes by a teacher or administrator, or allowed under a student’s IEP or health plan. For CGIS students, this means no phones from 7:00am-2:40pm each day.
We believe this change will have a positive impact on student health, behavior, and focus by reducing distractions and preserving valuable learning time.
Please take a moment to review these expectations with your student before school begins. The full policy is available on the MCS website under Board Policies.
