Torringford Tigers
December 2025
A Message from Mrs. Galullo & Mrs. Austin
Dear Torringford Families,
We’re thrilled to kick off this month’s newsletter by celebrating that Torringford School has been named a 2025 School of Distinction for demonstrating significant improvement—an achievement made possible by the dedication of our students, staff, and families.
As we enter the holiday season, we want to share our appreciation for the strong partnership we have with you. Supporting your children as they grow, learn, and reach new milestones is the most meaningful part of our work. Their curiosity, creativity, and kindness brighten our days, and your involvement helps us lay a strong foundation for their continued success.
Thank you as well for your participation in Parent-Teacher Conferences. Your engagement, questions, and insights are essential to understanding each learner and ensuring we are working together to help them thrive.
Looking ahead to December, we are excited to continue celebrating learning, community, and the many moments—both big and small—that make Torringford such a special place.
As winter approaches, please keep the following reminders in mind:
Delayed Openings
For a two-hour delay, student arrival is at 10:45 a.m. For a three-hour delay, school begins at 11:45 a.m. Breakfast is not served on delayed opening days.
Winter Clothing
Please ensure students come to school dressed for outdoor play. Weather permitting, recess will remain outside. Boots, snow pants, hats, and gloves are encouraged on snowy days.
Medications
All medications—including cough drops—must be brought in by an adult and given directly to Nurse Denise or Nurse Alli. Prescription medications require written orders from a physician.
Absences
If your child is absent, please call the school at 860-489-2300 (option 1) to let us know and share the reason. When your child returns, please send a note or doctor’s note to document the absence.
Winter Break will take place from December 24 through January 2, with classes resuming on Monday, January 5.
As 2025 comes to a close, thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We are incredibly proud of our students and all they have achieved this year.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and restful winter break.
With Tiger Pride,
Mrs. Galullo (Principal) & Mrs. Austin (Assistant Principal)

Torringford Tigers are PAWSOME
Torringford Tigers are RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and SAFE!
At Torringford, students earn PAWSome cards when they demonstrate respect, responsibility, and kindness. These cards celebrate their positive choices and highlight the ways they contribute to a caring and supportive school community.
In November, 337 Pawsome cards were awarded. Congratulations to the following Torringford Tigers:
Lorelei Avallone (kindergarten): Cupcake Decorating with Mrs. Lorentzen
Zahra Adnan (grade 2): Fidget Rental with Ms. Mangine
Jaquil Smith (grade 3): Fancy Lunch with Mrs. Austin
Aubree Teggie (grade 2): Bracelet Making with Mrs. Poklemba
Ivy Nelson(grade 2): Let's Make Slime with Mrs. Zima
We appreciate your partnership in promoting a positive learning environment for all students. Please be sure to celebrate your student when they share with you a PAWSOME award received at school.
A Message from the Health Office
School is Better with You
This holiday season, one of the best gifts you can give your child is a strong education—and the best place to get it is at school.
It can be tempting to extend your vacation by a few days, but every day your child misses is a day of learning they can’t get back. Even a few missed days, even if excused, can make it harder to keep up with lessons, class discussions, and important activities.
Being in school consistently helps children build routines, stay engaged, and make the most of their learning opportunities.
Please reach out to Georgia Austin or Deb Mordecai with any attendance concerns.
