Message from the Principal
We hope all of our Baker families weathered the Blizzard of 2026 safely! We certainly missed our students during the extended February Break and are so happy to be returning to school. I look forward to seeing the energy and excitement return to the building as we get back to work this month.
Classrooms have been busy learning about Black History Month and Women’s History Month. Students have created thoughtful and creative classroom door displays to showcase their learning, and we are so proud of the meaningful conversations and projects taking place throughout the school.
We are also excited for our upcoming Fun Run this month! Unfortunately, due to space limitations in the gym, we are not able to have spectators attend the event. We are incredibly grateful for your continued support of this major fundraising effort. The funds raised are instrumental in providing enrichment activities for students, especially as we head into the end of the school year. Students have voted on a special incentive and are very motivated- if we reach our fundraising goal, they are looking forward to pouring slime on Mrs. Werb!
I also continue to ask for your patience during drop-off and pick-up. The additional snow has made the process more challenging. A reminder no child should be dropped off in the front of the school. The front entrance is reserved for busses and vans only. On each side of the school, there is currently only one lane for stopped cars and one lane for moving traffic. Please do not park or drop off your child in the moving traffic lane. Safety must remain our top priority for all students and families. We are all looking forward to the snow melting and seeing green grass again someday!
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support.

WATER BOTTLES
💧 To help us maintain a clean and safe environment, please follow these guidelines:
-
Only water may be brought into the building.
-
Use simple, spill-resistant bottles with caps that close tightly.
-
🚫 No Stanley or Stanley-style bottles with straws.
-
🚫 No styrofoam or styrofoam-like cups.
📦 All water bottles must stay inside your child’s backpack when entering/exiting the building.
-
Students should not carry bottles in hallways, as spills create safety hazards.
-
Water fountains are available throughout the building for student use.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep Baker safe and welcoming for everyone!
FOOD POLICY
🍎 Food allergies are a growing concern in schools, and keeping all Baker School students safe is our highest priority. To protect children with food allergies — including those that can be severe — we cannot allow food or edible treats to be shared at school. We greatly appreciate the kindness behind bringing in treats, but we must kindly decline them so every child can be safe.
🎉 We know birthdays and special occasions are important! Families are welcome to celebrate by sending in non-food items such as:
-
Books
-
Pencils, erasers, or notepads
-
Folders or stencils
-
Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
-
Small games or playing cards
💙 Thank you for helping us keep all students safe while still making their special days meaningful.
TOY POLICY
🎒 We ask for your support in making sure students do not bring toys or games to school—electronic or otherwise—as they often create distractions during learning time. If a special classroom reward is planned, your child’s teacher will communicate that directly with families.
🖐️ To support students who may need sensory breaks or tools for focus, the school provides a variety of appropriate classroom resources.
⚽ For recess, the school also supplies balls, jump ropes, hula-hoops, and other equipment, so there is no need to bring items from home.
💙 Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a safe, focused, and engaging environment for all students.
