Founders' Day 2026 Info Founders' Day 2026 Info

Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Doors open at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:00 pm

Hellenic Cultural Center, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland, MI 48185

Please submit your headcount for the event, as well as payment, by Friday, February 6th.

Please make checks payable to LIVONIA PTSA COUNCIL and mail them to: Andrea Malenfant 11303 Cranston Livonia, MI 48150

What’s the seating situation?

Each table seats TEN people. Most units purchase at least one table. If your unit has an odd number of people, we will do our best to seat them at an adjacent table. For example, if your RSVP is for 11 people, we would split your party into 2 tables (maybe 5 people at one table, 6 at the other) so that the 11th person isn’t sitting at a table by themselves with people they don’t know. The seating chart is carefully created to accommodate the number of people in attendance, the voting process for the centerpiece contest, and for the serving staff of the venue as it pertains to those in attendance with certain food allergies. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE GUESTS TO A DIFFERENT TABLE OR SEAT DURING THE EVENT! This happened last year, and it caused a lot of confusion. If you don’t want your guests split up, then we suggest an even number of attendees.

*Please note: Council will pay for your honorees’ tickets! (2 for elementary, 3 for secondary). Please include them in your headcount, but not on your payment.

Let’s talk centerpieces!

Each unit will need to create a centerpiece for their table(s). Centerpieces will follow the same theme as Reflections – this year’s theme is “I Belong”. Get creative! A team of judges will be awarding some FABULOUS PRIZES! Centerpieces should be unique and NOT THE SAME as the previous year. Once judging of the centerpieces commences, DO NOT MOVE YOUR CENTERPIECE FROM THE TABLE UNTIL THE EVENT HAS CONCLUDED. Also, ALL centerpieces must be taken home, or they will be discarded.

What’s this I hear about a slideshow?

We will have a slideshow playing during the event with pictures from each unit. Some examples of photos include back to school events, Halloween, roller skating nights, etc. Please submit AND LABEL your photos to the Founders’ Day Google album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/hYeSm9p9yhyH7PnE7 The deadline for submitting photos is WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18th. AGAIN, THIS IS A FIRM SUBMISSION DATE!! The link will be closed after the 18th.

50/50 Raffle!

There will be a 50/50 Raffle again this year! Will you be the lucky winner?! Be sure to bring some cash! Good luck!

COUNCIL'S UNIT SPOTLIGHT COUNCIL'S UNIT SPOTLIGHT

Buchanan Elementary

Over the past month, our PTA has been busy creating meaningful moments for our school community, and we are proud to share a few highlights. One of our most joyful successes was the Santa Shop, where students had the opportunity to shop for friends and family members. In addition, students spread even more cheer by sending candy grams to classmates and staff, which our PTA was happy to coordinate, assemble, and deliver. The excitement on students’ faces as they selected gifts and wrote messages was a wonderful reminder of how special these experiences can be. Events like this not only bring holiday cheer but also help students practice generosity, independence, and thoughtfulness.

None of this would be possible without our incredible parent volunteers and PTA board. From planning and organizing to running events and supporting students, their time, energy, and dedication make a lasting impact on our school. We are continually grateful for the strong sense of community and collaboration that our volunteers bring to everything we do.

As we wrap up the holiday season and look ahead to the new year, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our amazing staff. As a small token of thanks for all they do each day, we treated them to a coffee truck from Golden Coffee Co., along with delicious pastry treats. We are thankful for the care, dedication, and positivity they bring to our students and families, and we look forward to continuing this spirit of gratitude, connection, and collaboration in the months ahead.

Coolidge Elementary

December was a month filled with many activities for Coolidge PTA.

We began our comfort for a cause blanket and card making projects during recess. With the help of many volunteers, we were able to offer students an opportunity to complete their Youth Making a Difference project during the school day. So far, we have donated eight blankets and many cards to Sinai Grace Hospital’s inpatient physical therapy department. These blankets and cards are handed out to patients who could use some extra comfort during their hospitalization while they recover from injury or illness. We are planning to host weekly opportunities when we return to school after winter break. A family night is planned for Tuesday 1/27/26 as well.

We had our monthly dining for donations at Buddy’s Pizza and it was another successful year. These monthly events help to raise funds for our many activities and give families an excuse to take a break from cooking. Our next dining for donations will take place on Tuesday, 1/27/26 at Rolling Stoves and Peace Tacos from 4-8 pm.

All students were able to participate in our annual holiday shop. Despite the unexpected snow day, we were still able to make sure everyone had a chance to attend. For students who did not bring money to shop, we had a special card making station complete with special cards and art supplies to create a handmade gift.

Cooper Upper Elementary

December is always a crazy month with the holidays but that didn't stop us from having fun! We started the month with having a Dine to Donate at Applebee's. Our goal has been to have one at least once a month and we have been holding strong! We also put out our list of staff's favorite things to help families pick gifts if they would like for teachers.

We donated pizza parties for the top two classes who brought in the most canned goods for the schools canned food drive! We also had a glow party for Ms. Herron's class! Her class was one of the top winners for the color run and they saved the party for the last week of school!

Our Founders' Day nominees for for parent and staff were announced at our last PTA meeting and we nominated Jennifer Jackson for our parent honoree and Mrs. Alvarez for our staff honoree!

Who doesn't like sweet treats?!? We baked our amazing staff delicious cookies and offered little baggies for them to take treats home for the holidays! We ended the week/year with a skate night! We had such a fun turnout and it was amazing seeing so many families out on the rink having fun to kick off the holiday break!
