Important Update! Classic Quiz Sunset Timeline and Using New Quizzes
The Classic Quiz function in Canvas will be going away and you will not be able to create Classic Quiz after Summer of 2022. In order to help us prepare for the transition to New Quizzes, we wanted to share some details and resources. Classic Quizzes can be added to or “migrated” into New Quizzes. You can also migrate a survey from Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes. However, the survey will be migrated as a standard quiz as the Canvas New Quizzes do not include a survey feature.
Here is a step-by-step guide that shows you how to migrate a Classic Quiz to a New Quiz. If you watch this training video starting at 16:30, it will walk you through the process as well.
While New Quizzes migration supports all question types, you should still review your quizzes before assigning them to students.
Notes:
After migration to New Quizzes, multiple dropdown questions display as matching questions.
Question banks cannot be imported into New Quizzes as item banks. However, you can import questions manually into an item bank by exporting a Canvas quiz.
When a classic quiz is migrated to New Quizzes, question groups import as item bank questions. However, the questions in the question groups are stored in the quiz and are not added as an item bank. All quiz questions in the group are displayed in the quiz preview.
Technology Tips and Tricks
Having issues with Benchmark?
- Double check that your internet is connected to "Wireless 2." Teachers have reported that this switch helps to resolve some of the common issues. If problems persist, please feel free to fill out a help request with Benchmark.
Having issues with Canvas Studio Screen Capture?
- You need to uninstall or delete any Screencast-O-Matic or screen recorder that you have on your computer and then restart your computer. Then login to Canvas Studio and click “record.” Canvas should then prompt you to allow for screen capture and you should be ready to record. Please check out this video that walks you through the necessary steps and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or issues! ~ kirstenturner@vistausd.org
