Message from the Principal
Dear Mitchell High School Families,
As we prepare to begin the 2026-2027 school year, I want to reflect on an incredible week and express my gratitude to the many people who continue to make our school and community so special.
Last weekend's community backpack giveaway was a tremendous success. Seeing our parking lot filled with families, students, and community members was a powerful reminder of the strength and generosity that define our school community. The smiles on students' faces and the spirit of support demonstrated throughout the event reflected our collective commitment to ensuring every child begins the school year prepared and ready to learn.
We also had the privilege of hosting a professional basketball player with local ties, Derrick White, who returned to Colorado Springs to lead a youth basketball camp in partnership with a community organization dedicated to creating opportunities for young people through athletics. Events like these inspire our student-athletes, who were in attendance, by showing them what is possible through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to giving back.
Throughout the week, our returning staff warmly welcomed our newest educators to Marauder Nation. Together, our faculty and staff engaged in meaningful professional learning centered on our vision of providing a first-class education that prepares every student for college, career, and life after high school. The passion, collaboration, and dedication displayed by our team reaffirmed our shared commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Now, our attention turns to the exciting week ahead as we welcome students back to campus. We will officially launch the school year with 9th Grade Jump Start on August 11. This important event provides our newest students an opportunity to meet staff, learn about our school culture, understand expectations and procedures, and explore the many unique academic, athletic, extracurricular, and career-focused opportunities available at Mitchell High School. It is a valuable first step in helping our freshmen feel connected, confident, and prepared for success.
As the week continues, we look forward to welcoming students from all grade levels back to campus as they transition from summer break into the routines, relationships, and opportunities of a new school year. Our staff stands ready to support every student as they pursue their goals and continue their journey toward graduation and postsecondary success.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and trust. Together, we will make the 2026-2027 school year a year of growth, achievement, and WINS.
Go Marauders!
