October Recap
Our teachers have been busy learning too! This month we had the amazing opportunity to work with Jan Richardson, a reading guru who spent three days at Freedom helping our teachers look at data and model lessons that build reading rigor and vocabulary for our learners. On October 17th, our staff also spent time learning more about how to work together in strong collaborative teams to better support every child. Thank you to all our families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences—your partnership and support mean so much as we work together to help our learners grow!
Parent Teacher participation by grade level:
Kindergarten- 61/65 94%
First Grade- 40/42 95%
Second Grade- 58/69 84%
Third Grade- 63/72 88%
Fourth Grade- 78/87 90%
Fifth Grade- 71/85 84%
Upcoming November
November is here, and the weather is getting much cooler! Please make sure your learner comes to school with warm clothing—and that it makes its way back home each day. Our lost and found is already growing! Hats, gloves, and warm jackets are a must, and once the snow starts flying, snow pants and boots will be needed too. If your family needs help with any of these items, please reach out to your classroom teacher—we have a generous community ready to support our learners. This month, our Profile of a Graduate focus is Compassion. I’ll be on the lookout for compassionate learners, and staff will be sending me photos of students showing kindness and care for others to share in our morning announcements. Ask your learner how they can show compassion both at school and at home!

Hello!
On November 12th & 14th, the RACC will be visiting the 5th grade classes to do their "I Wish the Hitting Would Stop" domestic violence prevention education program. Each 5th grade class across the district receives this presentation. They will spend 50 minutes in each class on Wednesday and Friday of that week.
I've attached the parent letter, which will also went home with learners last week. If you do not want your learner to participate, please sign the form and send it back with your learner before Friday November 7th.
We will make accommodations for any learners not attending the presentation. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or the RACC.
Thank you!

Reminders
School Times
Learners should NOT be at school before 7:30 AM. We do not have supervision before then and the building will still be locked.
Learners should be dropped off by 7:50 AM. At this time, our first bell rings and students head to their lockers and classes to start their day.
The final bell rings at 8:00 AM and attendance is taken at that time. Students who are NOT in class at 8:00 will have to check in at the office for a tardy pass.
School dismisses at 2:30 PM.
Pick Up & Drop Off
Please PULL FORWARD all the way and STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE when dropping off or picking up your child. This keeps the car loop moving and allows for learners to exit and enter vehicles quickly and safely.
We are Nut Aware
Reminder: Freedom Elementary is a Nut Aware School. Please do not bring snacks and/or bag lunches with peanut butter or nut items.
No Birthday Treats
We also follow our school district's guidelines for a healthy learning environment. Birthday treats are not allowed in the classrooms. Classrooms will use activities to celebrate birthdays instead.
Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found can be found in the school's commons area. Items most frequently left are sweatshirts, jackets and water bottles. PLEASE LABEL YOUR CHILD'S ITEMS!! Even initials help us find who something belongs to. Items not claimed will be donated at the end of each month.
