A Season for Rest, Reflection, and New Beginnings
Summer is here, and, as always, it comes at just the right time.
May is always a whirlwind at Elgin ISD. The last month of school is filled with graduation, senior tributes, award ceremonies, end-of-year projects, and so many moments worth stopping to celebrate. Our teachers and staff have poured themselves into getting every student across the finish line, and they have done it with so much heart. This season of rest is well-earned, and I hope everyone takes advantage of it.
Our parents and community members deserve recognition too. You funded scholarships, hosted events, stayed up late helping with final assignments, and cheered our Wildcats on at every turn. Elgin ISD is a strong, close-knit community because of you.
To every family: please soak up the time together and find ways to encourage discovery and creativity with your children! Summer is a wonderful time for building stronger relationships and connections. Play games and read together. Get outside and discover the opportunities around us in parks and nature preserves. Visit historical sites, libraries, and museums. There is so much to be gained from planning experiences together! Enjoy!
For me, this summer carries a particularly special meaning. After four remarkable years as your superintendent, I will be retiring. And while I could fill pages reflecting on everything we have accomplished together, what stays with me most is simpler than any program or initiative. It is the people. The parents who show up. The teachers who stay late. The staff who quietly make everything work. The students who remind us every single day why this work matters.
Elgin ISD, you have given me more than I could have dreamed of. This community has a spirit that is genuinely its own, and I am deeply grateful to have been part of it.
To the Class of 2026: congratulations! You are stepping into something new, and you are prepared. Carry the best of what you learned here with you, and never be afraid of what comes next.
New beginnings are for all of us, in ways big and small. I leave this chapter with a full heart and complete confidence in the future ahead for Elgin ISD.

El verano ya está aquí y, como siempre, llega justo en el momento indicado.
Mayo siempre es un torbellino en Elgin ISD. El último mes de clases está lleno de graduaciones, homenajes a estudiantes de último año, ceremonias de premios, proyectos finales y muchísimos momentos que vale la pena celebrar. Nuestros maestros y personal han dado todo de sí para ayudar a cada estudiante a cruzar la meta, y lo han hecho con muchísimo corazón. Esta temporada de descanso es más que merecida, y espero que todos la aprovechen al máximo.
Nuestros padres de familia y miembros de la comunidad también merecen reconocimiento. Ustedes financiaron becas, organizaron eventos, se desvelaron ayudando con tareas finales y apoyaron a nuestros Wildcats en cada paso del camino. Elgin ISD es una comunidad fuerte y unida gracias a ustedes.
A cada familia: ¡disfruten este tiempo juntos y encuentren maneras de fomentar el descubrimiento y la creatividad con sus hijos! El verano es una maravillosa oportunidad para fortalecer relaciones y conexiones. Jueguen juntos, lean juntos, salgan al aire libre y descubran las oportunidades que nos rodean en parques y reservas naturales. Visiten sitios históricos, bibliotecas y museos. ¡Hay muchísimo que ganar al crear experiencias juntos! ¡Disfrútenlo!
Para mí, este verano tiene un significado especialmente importante. Después de cuatro años extraordinarios como su superintendente, me jubilaré. Y aunque podría llenar páginas enteras reflexionando sobre todo lo que hemos logrado juntos, lo que más permanece conmigo es algo más sencillo que cualquier programa o iniciativa: las personas. Los padres que siempre están presentes. Los maestros que se quedan hasta tarde. El personal que silenciosamente hace que todo funcione. Los estudiantes que nos recuerdan todos los días por qué este trabajo importa.
Elgin ISD, ustedes me han dado más de lo que jamás imaginé. Esta comunidad tiene un espíritu verdaderamente único, y estoy profundamente agradecida de haber sido parte de ella.
A la Clase de 2026: ¡felicidades! Están comenzando una nueva etapa, y están preparados. Lleven con ustedes lo mejor de lo que aprendieron aquí y nunca tengan miedo de lo que viene después.
Los nuevos comienzos son para todos nosotros, de maneras grandes y pequeñas. Cierro este capítulo con el corazón lleno y con total confianza en el brillante futuro de Elgin ISD.
