CSO End of Year Presentation CSO End of Year Presentation

On May 29, 2024, the Centennial Chief Science Officers (CSO’s) went to Fairmount Water Works for their end of year meeting. During this meeting, students were provided with a tour of Fairmount Water Works. After the tour, they participated in escape room events, presented the outcomes of their 2023-2024 STEM initiatives, and were provided with awards for their dedication and hard work. Throughout the school year, the Centennial CSO’s planned a science fun day. Their goal was “to educate and inspire elementary and middle school students interested in the STEM field with interactive experiments.” The event had over 85 participants from the Centennial community, and it contained many different stations to engage and educate participants on both physical and life science. The CSO’s are looking forward to planning and implementing their next STEM event within the Centennial School District!

Promotion Ceremony Promotion Ceremony

Fast Facts:

  • Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in the Log College parking lot (Willow Dale side).

  • Be prepared to be in the sun and outdoors for approximately one hour. If you have a health condition that makes this unsafe, we strongly encourage watching the ceremony on our Facebook Live feed.

  • We also highly recommend bringing water.

  • Parking will be available at Log College and Willow Dale Elem.

The Ceremony:

  • While the promotion is optional to attend, we do expect most students to be present.

  • There is not a specific dress code, but students should dress appropriately.

  • The ceremony will last approximately 60 minutes (last year’s took just over 45 minutes).

  • The building (and bathrooms) will not be open.

  • The ceremony includes a few speeches, a brief musical performance, presentation of a handful of our most prestigious awards, and the individual announcements of our student body.

Tickets:

  • Students received their tickets on Friday.

    • Two primary tickets and two secondary tickets (as well as any extra tickets that were requested).

    • Seating will be spaced for families (groups of five).

    • Students sit with their families. Families who received extra tickets should bring a chair. You may not take a chair from another family’s set of five. If there is space, you may sit one of your own chairs next to your family’s section. Otherwise, all those attending with an additional ticket should sit behind the last row (no seat is a bad seat).

  • Rain: In the case of rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the LCMS auditorium.

    • Due to capacity restrictions, only guests with primary tickets will be permitted to enter the building. Please consider this when determining which tickets you will share with your guests. There are no exceptions and requests for additional tickets will not be granted.

    • Please email any questions/concerns to goldpa@centennialsd.org.

Off to the Races Off to the Races

The 7th and 8th grade STEM classes are concluding the year with their CO2 Dragster races. Students have spent the past couple weeks designing, cutting, sanding, shaping, and painting their balsa wood car designs. They are now ready for testing. Students weigh their car, check the alignment, and observe any drag in our wind tunnel. The final test is on our Edney 500 race track. CO2 cartridges help launch their cars down a track, where they are timed. Finally, we convert the feet per second to miles per hour to discover the speed of their cars. (They were very serious and racing when I came in).

2024 What To Bring To Dorney Park

8th Grade Dance 8th Grade Dance

The 8th Grade Dance was a truly awesome event. There was a big crowd, and the cafeteria was converted into a Philadelphia neon night club. Shout out to the Log College Home and School Association for transforming the space, hiring an amazing DJ, and supplying some delicious treats.

Athletics and the Summer

More information to come.

***In general, students who plan to participate in Fall sports (Football, Boys Soccer, Field Hockey, Cheerleading, and Girls Volleyball) must have a new (post-June 1) PIAA physical completed before they step on the field for tryouts. Typically, LCMS will begin tryouts during the first or second week of school.

***PIAA physicals can be completed by your doctor, a minute-clinic, etc. This past year, the Centennials School District partnered with Liberty Urgent Care at a discounted rate. (I have no information yet for next year, but I'll leave last year's information below for perspective).

Dear Log College Families,

Winter Sports have concluded and Spring Sports Season has arrived. Contact Log's Athletic Director, Mr. Corey at coreco@centennialsd.org with any questions.

  • Baseball
  • Softball
  • Girls Soccer
  • Two Club Sports (6th Grade students are eligible): Pickleball and Lacrosse (No physical needed for club sports)

PIAA sports physical -

  • All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2023). The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23 (or you can pick one up from Mr. Corey, our athletic director or any LCMS coaches).

  • If you have already played a sport in the Fall/Winter, you do not need to complete a new physical, but you must re-submit section 7 (Re-certification by parent/guardian) from the PIAA physical form. This page does not require seeing a doctor or medical provider.

  • If you did not submit a PIAA physical in the Fall/Winter, you must complete Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet. This must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8.

  • If you cannot find an appointment time with your doctor, you may use another provider or visit a CVS Minute Clinic or visit an Urgent Care center. The Centennial School District has a partnership with Liberty Urgent Care:

If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD, your physical will only cost $20. (Locations listed below)
