December 2025 Newsletter
A Message from Mr. Larsen
Happy December, KMMS Families,
I hope this message finds you healthy and well. I cannot believe how quickly November passed. It was a terrific month for our staff and students, and I am excited and eager to move into December. Please see the following announcements below for Kasson-Mantorville Middle School.
Brrr... It's cold outside
Students in 5th and 6th grade have recess daily. I expect students to dress appropriately for the weather. It is our philosophy that students learn responsibility in middle school - preparing for and being outside is one of the ways we help students build responsibility. We encourage students to wear hats and gloves, but, in middle school fashion, some often say they are fine without them. While natural consequences exist in our world, please know that we make every effort to regularly share our expectations with students. Thus, students should come prepared to be outside every day. Students will be outside every day that the temperature is above 0. Thank you for your partnership.
The 4 Be's
As with any lengthy break, our staff and students spend the first few days modeling and reiterating the 4 Be's: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Engaged. We have had a terrific start to the school year, and we will continue to stress the importance of our expectations. As I share with students, the success you have in middle school is in direct correlation to your work with the 4 Be's. I am excited to round out a fantastic 2025!
Concert Season
We have several concerts coming to the MN WiFi Performing Arts Center at the high school this month. See the important date below for more information. Our students have been practicing since the beginning of school, and I am excited to watch our students perform. Please consider joining us on one of the nights below.
HyVee Cash 4 Students
Are you sick of collecting HyVee receipts after shopping? Feel free to drop them off at the middle school office. HyVee will donate $1 for every $250 in receipts collected. HyVee will accept receipts from Rochester and Kasson only. To date, we have collected $50,000 in HyVee receipts - let's keep them coming!
Cell Phones
I know the holidays are quickly approaching, and cell phones are at the top of many students' lists. Please note that we limit cell phone use at KMMS. Students in all grades leave their phones in the locker at all times. If you need to deliver a message to your child(ren), please do not hesitate to contact the middle school office. We will gladly provide the message to your child(ren). Students continue to do a fantastic job of meeting our expectations for cell phones at school. Teachers can teach, and students can learn without needless distractions - Thank You.
With Gratitude
At KMMS, we are very fortunate to have such wonderful students and families. We have such strong support from our families, and we are very thankful for the partnership between home and school. Thank you for your continued support of Kasson-Mantorville Middle School. Should anything ever arise, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher(s), Mrs. Simon, or me. Thank you, and Go KoMets!
Together in KoMet Pride,
Josh Larsen, Principal
