Update Your Information:
- Parents are required to create a Parent PowerSchool Portal account where you will be able to view transportation information, teacher assignments, grades, and fill out electronic forms from the district. Information on the Parent PowerSchool Portal accounts can be found at www.nwschools.org or CLICK HERE for more information on how to create an account.
- Please ensure your contact information is up-to-date by logging into your Parent PowerSchool Portal. Keeping your contact information up to date is crucial for you to be able to receive important district communications throughout the school year.
Annual Forms:
- To ensure we have the most accurate information, the first contact listed in PowerSchool will receive an email with a link to the Returning Student Registration including a personalized ‘Snapcode Link’ to conveniently update your student’s record. Please contact us at nw.media@nwschools.org with any questions or additional updates to your student’s account. Changes can also be made in the Parent PowerSchool Portal, or by contacting us.
- In order for Northwest to continue to qualify for free breakfast and lunch for all students, it is important for all parents to complete the Education Benefits Form linked HERE. Visit the Family Portal and click on ‘Apply for Benefits’ to get started.
- Every year, transportation request forms are required for ALL students. If you have not yet submitted the transportation request form, please click HERE to complete the form. Students will not receive a transportation assignment until the registration form has been submitted.
- Student Handbooks: Please take a moment to review our updated Student Handbook linked HERE.
- Northwest Community Schools will be implementing the Standard Response Protocol for the 2026-2027 school year. For information and resources on school safety and response, please visit our website linked HERE.

- Have questions? Contact Us through our website linked HERE.
Student Technology:
- Starting this school year, in accordance with new State of Michigan regulations, all Northwest students must keep personal wireless communication devices (including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, meta-glasses, earbuds, and headphones) turned off and stored away for the entire school day, following their specific building's guidelines.
- Student account and login information will be available at the Back to School Nights or on the first day of school. Students may request account access early by sending an email to nw.media@nwschools.org. We will begin processing student passwords on Monday, August 10, 2026.
- Students will be assigned technology either within their building, or individually, with all assignments loaded on our learning management platforms, Schoology (3-12) and SeeSaw (Y5-2). Technology information and resources can be found HERE.

Family Engagement
NWEE welcomes families to volunteer in our building as part of our family engagement initiatives! Please read the following policy on background checks that need to be completed before your volunteer service in our building. Please communicate with your classroom teachers on any upcoming opportunities. Regarding school-wide events, communication will be disseminated from the office to all families inviting your participation. Additionally, the PTO has rescheduled their monthly meetings to encourage families to join. Please see the schedule below and we look forward to seeing you then!
"In order to ensure the protection of children in the care of Northwest Community Schools, school policy requires, prior to any and all persons providing a volunteer service at the school or for any function conducted by the school; all potential volunteers complete a State of Michigan background check. The background check is a name check only through the State of Michigan ICHAT system, and is based on individual identifiers.
Any applicant declining to complete a "Volunteer/Chaperone Background Check Acknowledgment Form" will not be considered. Forms are valid for the current school year only and should be submitted at least two weeks before the event. "
