Hope, Healing, and Wholeness

Our vision is to see those who feel disconnected from God and the church find hope, healing, and wholeness in Jesus Christ.

Thanking God for EVERYTHING!

"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good! His love endures forever!" Psalm 107: 1 NIV

Of all the holidays to celebrate, Thanksgiving is by far my favorite. I love the reminder of the abundance of tangible and intangible blessings in our lives that can be lifted as praises to God. Opening ourselves up to the space of a thankful heart allows us to shift our attitude to one of gratitude and brings joy to both God as well as ourselves. Thankful hearts can protect us from worries and negative thinking. Prayers of thanksgiving awaken our hearts to the abundance of blessings that God showers on us each day.

We teach our children to say thank you, but this month we will be going deeper on what it means to thank God with our WHOLE heart. With a bubble theme this month, you might say that we will be "bubbling over" with thankfulness to God.

In The Morning . . .

Sing or Speak this morning song

(to the tune of If you're happy and you know it)

Thank you God for my little [boy/girl]

Thank you God for my little [boy/girl]

[He's/She's] a gift from above

and I am filled with love

Thank you God for my little [boy/girl]

If your child can, they can sing it back to you adding in mom or dad or use a sibling or even pet's name!

On the Move...

Create a thank you necklace while traveling or at home. This can be done using string and large wooden beads or even penne noodles. (For colorful noodles use food coloring to dye the noodles ahead of time and allow them to dry before stringing them). Each time your children or family expresses an attitude of gratitude to God for something or someone, add a bead or noodle to the necklace. How many necklaces can you complete throughout the month of November? Each time you complete a necklace, give it away to someone that you want to tell God you are thankful for like friend, relative, teacher or neighbor.

In Prayer...

Dear God, thank you for your ever faithfulness and for your love. Thank you for your promises to always be with us. We also thank you for all that you have given us. We thank you for (allow you and your child to say thank you for people and things). We thank you especially for [child's name] and all the love that you have put in [his/her] heart. We are so grateful for [his/her] life and we thank you for this special gift. Help us to always thank you with our whole heart.

In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Create a snack mix together as a family to keep around for the season. Have a key for what each item will represent as you eat it. For example, the pretzels will be for people, the cereal for toys, the m&m's for places, marshmallows for animals, crackers for colors, raisins for books... etc. (more than one food item can be a category) As you pick one piece from the mix, say thank you for whatever category that food is.

If I pick up a marshmallow, I say "thank you God for otters" because marshmallows represent animals.

Grace and Glory!
