We are excited to share some outstanding news with our school community! The South Carolina Department of Education has released its annual school report card ratings, which evaluate schools across the state in areas such as academic achievement, student progress, school climate, and more. Schools can earn one of five ratings: Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average, or Unsatisfactory.

This year, our school is proud to announce that we have earned an Excellent rating—for the second year in a row!

This accomplishment reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families. An “Excellent” rating is the highest rating a school can receive, and earning it two years in a row highlights our continued commitment to academic growth, positive learning experiences, and a strong school culture.

We are incredibly proud of the progress our students are making each day and grateful for the support of our families and community. Together, we are creating a place where students feel encouraged, challenged, and celebrated.

Thank you to everyone who plays a part in making our school such a special place. We look forward to building on this success and working toward another great year of learning!

We’re excited to share some wonderful news—our school now has a brand-new book vending machine, thanks to the generous support of Anderson Brothers Bank!

Our students have been so excited about this new addition. Each week, students who are recognized as Student of the Week earn special tokens they can use to “purchase” their very own book from the machine. It’s become a fun and meaningful way to celebrate their hard work, and the joy on their faces as they pick out a book is priceless.

This new vending machine also supports our school-wide Rise With Reading initiative. By giving students more opportunities to choose books they love, we’re helping them build confidence, strengthen their reading skills, and stay motivated on their reading journey. The machine has already become a great conversation starter in classrooms, and it’s helping us create a culture where reading is exciting, rewarding, and celebrated.

None of this would be possible without Anderson Brothers Bank. Their donation shows just how committed they are to supporting our school and serving the community. Thanks to their partnership, our students have even more chances to grow as readers and discover the joy of getting lost in a good book.

Thank you, Anderson Brothers Bank, for helping our students Rise With Reading—one book at a time!

Response Needed: Title One Parent Survey Response Needed: Title One Parent Survey

Each year, we send out a Title I survey to gather important feedback from parents. This information helps us ensure that our parenting programs and activities are accessible and supportive for all families. We use your input to determine the best times, days, and formats for our programs so that we can accommodate as many families as possible.

By completing this survey, you help us continue offering meaningful parenting programs and activities that meet the needs of the families we serve. We appreciate your time and partnership in supporting our school community.

STEM Spotlight STEM Spotlight

Grades 3-5: Weather Exploration using the Engineering & Design Process

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 have completed a module on weather factors and hazards. Students designed wind socks, anemometers, and rain gauges, and tracked tropical storms and hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Using real time weather data, we monitored Tropical Storms Imelda and Humberto. Students also engineered structures to mitigate the impact of coastal flooding. This module proved to be relevant to our community since we live in a coastal plain prone to flooding.

Grades CD-2: Sun and Moon Phases using Scientific Inquiry
Our youngest learners in Child Development, Kindergarten, and grades 1 and 2 explored the phases of the sun and moon. Using Scientific Inquiry we learned that the sun is the largest star in our solar system and is considered a younger star at 4.5 billion years old. CD students used cyanotype paper (sun print paper) to observe the effects of UV rays. Students also engaged in scientific inquiry and created models of the moon's surface, including rocks, dust, and impact craters!

Upcoming: STEM Career Exploration
In November, we will focus on exploring careers in STEM, in celebration of National STEM Day on November 8. I look forward to inspiring students with exciting career possibilities in the STEM fields.
