Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
This week was another busy one at BHS. Students participated in the Hope Week festivities, participated in the NHS Blood Drive on Tuesday, and wrapped up today with a mini trick or treating option during advisory as judges weighed in on costumes.
As a reminder, students are not in attendance on Tuesday, November 3rd, as staff members will be engaging in professional learning. Students will be attending school next week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Our Theatre Department will be hosting a dinner theatre option on November 6th and 7th. Check out the Taste of the Stage flyer included in this newsletter. We have some amazingly talented young people at Batavia High School, so I hope you have a chance to come out and support them!
As a quick reminder, don’t forget about the time change Saturday night! Even though we should all feel more rested with “gaining an hour”, it’s likely that it will take another week for all of us to adjust.
Have a great weekend, and we can’t wait to see your students on Monday!
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hello, Families.
Mr. Buis is out on leave navigating the new addition to his family. His newly born daughter arrived this past week, and we could not be happier for him and his family. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
With the clocks “falling back” an hour this weekend, please make sure our students continue to arrive on time and safely each morning.
Thank you,
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

BHS Teachers Engage in Collaboration on Tuesdays
Every Tuesday after students are dismissed from BHS, teachers gather for forty minutes to engage in professional learning. This week, BHS teachers proposed a variety of scenarios about how to support students while Mr. Smith, Mr. Moorehead, Mr. Brose and Mrs. Newman provided feedback on their thoughts around handing each situation. We are very proud of our teachers and their collaborative work.

The FAFSA Application opened October 1!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2027-28 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
For additional assistance with FAFSA completion, please visit itsforyou.org.
