Greetings-

Students grades were updated for Term B in Infinite Campus. Please make sure to take a look. If you cannot access the grades, please send an email to Michaele Williamson (williamson.m@sau54.org). She will be able to set you up with a login if you do not have one.

This week our 7th and 8th graders completed the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, and Tony Hoffman presented to our 8th graders about his journey managing mental health and a past addiction. Check out the pictures from Tony Hoffman's presentation below.

April 2nd is an early release schedule, so please plan accordingly as students are dismissed at 11:30 am.

On April 5th, we will be holding a Saturday school form 8-11. The sign-up form is included below.

Have a great week!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are offering Saturday School on Saturday, April 5th from 8-11 am. This opportunity is for students to catch up on work. It is not an opportunity to get more work assigned. School starts at 8 am at Rochester Middle School. Late arrivals will not be allowed in. Please fill out the student's name, grade, team, and dates your student will attend. Also, please sign acknowledging that you would like your son or daughter to attend. It would be great to leave the best contact number for those dates. Staff does an excellent job planning for these sessions, so it is important that we have accurate numbers and information. Thank you!

Respectfully,

Ryan Gilpatrick

How Spring Got Its Name 🌸 🌱 🐣

  • 🌱 The spring season gets its name from the verb "spring." It's a nod to the flowers and plants springing up, springing open, and bursting into blossom.
  • 🐣 The word itself comes from the Old English word "springan," which means "to leap, burst forth, fly up; spread, grow."
  • 🌸 During the 14th century, the word came to describe the spring season, the time when plants wake from their winter sleep and bloom.
  • 🌅 Before that, the word "Lent" was used to describe the season: "In the past it was the main word for ‘spring.' Lent surfaced as ‘lencten,' that is, ‘lengten': the season got its name because in spring days lengthen." (full article here)
