Christmas Gratitude — Thank You, Families

As we come to the close of this beautiful Christmas season, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to all of our families for your generosity and kindness. The gifts, baking, treats, cards, and thoughtful gestures shared with our staff brought so much joy to our days and truly lifted our spirits.

Your warmth and care remind us what a blessing it is to belong to such a compassionate and supportive school community. Thank you for your continued partnership and for the love you extend to our staff and students — it is a true gift.

The Elk Island Catholic School Board of Trustees approved amendments to the 2025-26 School Year Calendars at its regular public meeting on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025.

The amendments to the 2025-2026 calendars were recommended to ensure all students meet the required outcomes outlined in their Program of Studies. As a result of these changes, consequently, there will be no report card presented to parents in January. Parents can expect an end-of-year report in June.

The labour action resulted in the loss of approximately 17 days of instructional time, and Elk Island Catholic Schools has taken proactive steps to maximize the remaining school year.

Key Calendar Changes:

To support student success, particularly at the high school level, the board approved the following changes for all schools:

January 28th, 2026 - currently a Professional Development Day, will now become an instructional day for Semester 1
January 29th, 2026 - will remain an instructional day, but in Semester 1
January 30th, 2026 - will remain an instructional day, but in Semester 1
February 2, 2026 - will remain an instructional day, and mark the start of Semester 2

These calendar adjustments are important, especially for High School students. The recovery of instructional days, when combined with other instructional changes such as changes to exam week, will have a significant impact on student learning.
