Good afternoon DCS families, it has been another super week at DCS! We have really gotten into the groove of school. Just in time to begin out fall assessments. These tests do take some time but give us lots of information about where your student is performing and what areas we need to focus upon to continue to ensure they progress. We have also been busy planning for some fall events. Jeannie Connolly came to school today to create "peeps" with the students that represent them and with a focus upon caring which reflects our school motto. We have also been excitedly planning for the whole school kickball game at the Dublin Baseball Field! It was amazing to see so many parents, to have Officer Dalterio and Chief Suokko on the field! Additionally, our Superintendent Ann Forrest played an inning and Assistant Superintendent Amy Stephenson watched all the fun. A huge thank you to Heather Fletcher for coordinating and to Kelly Parker for teaching our students how to play. It was an amazing way to end the week!

I am loving this beautiful fall weather! It makes it so fun to be outside and is perfect for our apple picking trip next week. Please consider joining us for our first Community Lunch on Friday at 12pm, and plan to bring your own lunch. I look forward to seeing you all. I hope you all get outside and enjoy the weekend, Nicole

Wellness so far...

DCS students have been learning about the expectations in wellness. We have played a variety of cooperative games such as dice breakers, group juggle, caterpillar riot, cross the river, pool noodle transfer, plank leapfrog, bear-salmon-mosquito, and capture the flag. We have done freeze dance, the floor is lava, and musical hoops. We have been practicing our kicking skills and learning how to play kickball to be ready for the big game.

Students have also learned about the 'work-it-out' corner and the 'chill zone' to help solve problems and to take breaks. Recently we learned about self-assessment and how to reflect about our effort and participation in class. We talked about how every day might not be the best but tomorrow is another day to make it better.

Thank you for sharing your students with me. We are having so much fun!

Plastic Recycling-the DCS community has recycled over 2000 pounds of plastic bags and in return were given a bench from the Trex decking company! Please keep your clean plastic shopping bags and pellet bags coming, we are working toward a second bench and beyond!

DCS also collects metal tabs to be donated toward support for people with prosthetics! Please bring your tabs to school!
