WSD BOARD MEETING REPORT

The WSD Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, March 19, that was live-streamed via the WSD Board of Education YouTube channel and can be viewed by visiting YouTube. The agenda and available supporting documents can be viewed online under Diligent Community. Below are some highlights.

Leaders in the WSD met earlier this month for a Board of Education work session to discuss the condition of school buildings, how to fund needed improvements, and school boundaries. Read this summary of what was presented and watch the full work session video below.

Brian Bishop, superintendent of schools, began the business portion of the meeting by providing comments and sharing District updates.

Dr. Tim Reller, chief financial officer, presented the 2026-27 preliminary budget and proposed tax rate to the Board for consideration. A preliminary tax rate is due to the County of St. Charles in April.

The administration presented some options for the Board to consider regarding addressing facility improvement needs. View the full Facility Improvement Recommendation Options presentation.

The Board approved a motion to develop ballot language to pursue a $175 million bond issue at the August 2026 election, for the Board to consider and vote on in a future meeting.

The Board approved the WNEA Nurses Agreement, as presented.

The Board approved the WNEA ESC Agreement, as presented.

The Wabash Elementary School Instrument Club performed in celebration for School Board Recognition Month. This month, we celebrated our dedicated school board members. Our Board members devote countless hours to making critical decisions for the schools in our community. We are pleased to thank each of them for their time and commitment to public service on behalf of all the students, staff, and stakeholders in the WSD.

The WSD Board approved the hiring of Stephanie Elson as the assistant principal of Heritage Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026. Elson currently serves as an elementary principal in Arizona.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is set for April 23, 2026. A special Board Reorganization Meeting will be held April 21, 2026.
