SWENext Girls in Engineering Explores Vanderbilt University
On Wednesday, October 29th, the HTHS SWENext Girls in Engineering club ventured to Vanderbilt University for an inspiring day of college exploration. The group met with a Vandy admissions counselor who shared valuable insights about the application process and offered practical advice on building a competitive profile. Students learned how their current decisions—from course selection to extracurricular involvement and leadership opportunities—can shape their future college prospects.
The experience extended beyond the admissions office as the girls toured Vanderbilt's beautiful campus, explored the state-of-the-art engineering facilities, and enjoyed lunch in a campus dining hall alongside current Vanderbilt students. After the formal tour concluded, the group browsed the campus bookstore, where many picked up Vandy merchandise to commemorate the day.
Despite the rainy weather, the students returned energized and informed, having gained answers to their questions about admissions, college life, scholarships, campus housing, and more. Special thanks to Mr. Mose Harris for navigating Nashville traffic and wet roads to ensure everyone's safe arrival and return!
HTMS Students Celebrate Veterans Day
Thanks to Mr. Ron Burkett for visiting Hewitt-Trussville Middle School to take aerial drone pictures of our 6th graders for their Veterans Day tribute!
Magnolia's 4th & 5th Grade Choir celebrated Veterans Day with more than 175 family and service members. To our Veterans, thank you for your service!
Cahaba Elementary celebrated its 5th annual Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday after a brief weather delay, and it was well worth the wait! Under clear skies, veterans drove around the flagpole square as students lined the route waving flags and cheering in appreciation. The atmosphere was filled with pride and gratitude as SHINE performed patriotic songs to honor those who have served our country. It was a beautiful day to celebrate our heroes and the freedoms they protect.
Paine Elementary Celebrates Kindness Week
Paine second grade classes celebrated National Kindness Day by bringing smiles to our community! They teamed up with Legacy Ridge Assisted Living to create cheerful Thanksgiving placemats for residents to enjoy during their holiday feast.
Through this simple gesture, students learned what it means to serve others and how small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. We cherish our partnership with Legacy Ridge and love watching our Huskies spread joy!
