LAC Weekly News
Week of 9/22/2025
Dear Families and Friends,
Thank you for our ongoing support in all that we do at LAC! Your words of encouragement and love keep us grounded in our mission to know, love and serve God on our campus. We are so blessed to have our dedicated teachers and staff and our amazing volunteers. We are equally blessed to have the support of our local West Shore ESD and our Office of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids. I look forward to many great opportunities and ventures throughout our school year!
Grandparents' Day: This week we will welcome our phenomenal grandparents/grandfriends to LAC. The students have been preparing for this special annual event. We welcome Deacon Jan as our presider and homilist. It always proves to be a great day!
Safety/Security: We continue to work with local law enforcement and our building/grounds and tech support to use best practices with our safety drills/procedures and equipment at our school, parish and grounds. I appreciate their expertise in providing us with guidance and professional experience. We will continue with our mandatory drills and staff training throughout the school year. Please NOTE, in the event of an actual 'Full Lockdown' our parents will be notified as I am able. Our first order is to make sure that students and staff are safe and secure. We do have drills so your student may come home and tell you of these instances. Please engage in thoughtful conversation regarding these drills. Likewise, please practice safety drills in your own homes in the event of emergencies or natural disasters/power outages. Some thoughts to ponder:
* Do we have a family meeting place in the event of an emergency where we have to evacuate our home/property?
* Do we have a 'grab and go' first aid kit?
* Do we have working fire extinguishers, flashlights and emergency food items and first aid in the event of power outages or the need to shelter in place?
* Do we practice and talk about safety measures in our home with our children?

Prayer for Families
..."As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24: 15)
A Prayer for Families (USCCB.org)
We bless your name, O Lord,
for sending your own incarnate Son,
to become part of a family,
so that, as he lived its life,
he would experience its worries and its joys.
We ask you, Lord,
to protect and watch over this family,
so that in the strength of your grace
its members may enjoy prosperity,
possess the priceless gift of your peace,
and, as the Church alive in the home,
bear witness in this world to your glory.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
