October News

The first month of the school year has flown by in the blink of an eye. We'd like to thank the parents for a smooth transition into the school year and being supportive of your child at home. Our teachers continue to establish routines within the classroom to ensure a safe learning environment. Please talk with your child on ways to be respectful, responsible, and safe while at school so success is felt academically and behaviorally.

Here are a couple reminders:

- With cooler weather comes cold-like symptoms. Please monitor your child's health as colds can be transferred easily to others who may have difficulty fending off illnesses.

- Elementary Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held November 25th and 26th. Information on sign-ups will be handed out later in October. Please reserve those days in your schedules so you can meet with your child's teacher and learn about the progress that he or she made so far this school year.

Please review the newsletter below for important dates, special events, and other information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office.

Thank you,

Harding Elementary Administration

PBIS

Harding teachers and staff continue to look for positive behavior in the classroom, cafeteria, hallways, and other areas in the school. Students can earn blue Standing Tall tickets by showing respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors. The tickets earn the student a chance to receive special recognition and prizes throughout the school year.

ARC

We will continue with our ARC program where students can enjoy books at their own reading level each day. Students will read independently for 30 minutes while in school. Beginning in October, students will be expected to enjoy books at home for at least 15 minutes with families.

SWPBIS SWPBIS

zoom_out_map

Harding's School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) program is committed to establishing a social culture within our school in which students expect and support appropriate behavior from one another. At Harding, we strive to...

Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Be Safe

Students who show these traits are rewarded with blue tickets from teachers as recognition of their positive character traits. Each week, winners from each class are selected from the collected blue tickets to earn special prizes (see picture).

Our monthly 3:2:1 reward recognizes students who do not have 3 or more minor behavior incidents, 2 or more missing assignments, or no more than 1 major behavior incident documented for the entire month. October's 3:2:1 reward will be Pumpkin Decorating.
