AHS August Updates

This year has gotten off to a whirlwind start. We are excited and looking forward to seeing our students. We love to see them participate in clubs, sports and everything AHS has to offer. Homecoming is right around the corner and we will have information soon about that.

We still have the weapons detection system in place as students walk in. Students will be expected to wear their ID through the school day, not just have it on them. We can use all the help we can with this.

Parking Passes

Parking Passes will be $10 this school year. The fee will need to be paid at the bookstore, cash or check made payable to: APS. Forms are available for pick up at the front desk. Documentation needed is proof of registration, insurance and driver's license (not a permit)

Student ID's

We will be handing out ID's as school gets started. Students will be required to wear these each day. We will get new students called up to have a picture taken so they can have an ID.

NO Doordash or outside food.

We cannot be held responsible for getting McDonalds, pizza ect delivered to your child. Lunch is free for every student. We will not deliver or allow students to accept outside food brought it. This does not mean students cannot bring a lunch. This means, we will not allow fast food deliveries at lunch time.

Herff Jones will be the morning of August 31st to talk about Graduation Items and Class rings.

Contact Information

Please be sure you have current contact information in PowerSchool such as updated phone numbers and pick up list. This way we can be sure to communicate with you in the best way. We are happy to help you with any changes you may need to make. Please be sure to check who you have recorded in PowerSchool to be able to pick up your child. We cannot release students to people who are not on your pick up list. We want to make this process as painless as possible for you.

Medicine at School Policy-- Please see the attached form about students bringing medication to school.

Attendance

As per District Policy, Absences need to be excused within 48 hours of the absence. After that, we cannot make changes.

Attendance Post cards will be sent out soon by the district to give you a snapshot of your child's attendance.

Students need to have Truancy rate UNDER 15% to be able to purchase tickets for Homecoming and Prom.

Tuesday, August 5th-- 6:00 -- 7;30 --.Open House -- Please join us and meet your child's teachers. We will have schedules available if needed. We will have some finger foods in the Commons Area and the Cafeteria will have samples of student food. We will not pass out ID's at Open House. We will however have people available to notarize paperwork for permanent passes and 18+ .

August 25th -- Heriff Jones Assembly. This Assembly is for Juniors to hear about Class rings and for Seniors to hear about Graduation Swag and announcements.

September 24th - picture day for 9-11. Retakes will be later in the semester.
