๐พ Family Town Hall Recap: You Asked, We Answered!
Thank you to all of our families who joined us for our first Family Town Hall with Principal Lewis! We appreciated the thoughtful questions, feedback, and conversation as we prepare for a great year together.
For families who were unable to attend, or those who would like to revisit the conversation, we have created a Family Town Hall Recap highlighting key information shared during the session along with responses to many of the questions raised by families.
Topics include iCARE and school culture, cell phones and electronic devices, CARE Period, clubs, arrival and breakfast, the Restorative Room, technology, attendance, academic rigor, family partnership, and more.
๐ Family Town Hall Recap: You Asked, We Answered
We hope this serves as a helpful resource as we begin the year. As always, please continue to bring us your questions, feedback, and ideas. Our partnership with families is essential to making Fugett the best possible experience for every student.

๐ Our New Student & Family Guidebook
We are excited to share a working version of our new FMS Student & Family Guidebook for SY27! This guidebook is designed to be a go to resource for families throughout the school year.
Inside, you will find important information about morning arrival procedures, daily modes of operation, student expectations, schoolwide procedures, supports, resources, and much more to help every student start the year successfully and confidently.
We encourage all families to review the guidebook together with your student and bring your questions, feedback, and ideas to our upcoming Family Town Halls with Principal Lewis.
Your partnership is essential to our success. Together, we can ensure our students are ready from Day One and make SY27 our Best Year Yet at FMS! ๐พ๐
๐Back to School Shopping Tips ๐๐ช๐
Please be sure to check our the Back to School Supply Lists for your child and reach out to Teachers with any specific questions.
Back-to-School Shopping Tips
- Know your stores: Many chain retailers will provide shopping lists for all area districts, please keep in mind these retailers do NOT consult with school districts when creating these lists. Not all items are required for the start of school.
- Shop end-of-summer sales: The big rush to buy school supplies occurs in August. If you avoid this peak time and buy after the rush, when items often go on sale for 50%-75% off retail prices, you can save a lot of money.
- Stick to the list: Extra supplies, while they may be cute, probably won't get used and just leave your pockets empty. Stick to the supply list, or check with your students teacher for additional items.
- Head to the dollar store for basic supplies: Check for great deals on pens and loose-leaf paper!
- Let the kids raid your cabinets: The kids can select home-office supplies to personalize. For example, decorate inexpensive white binders with photos by creating a collage and inserting the page into the plastic cover.
- Host a back-to-school swap: Round up a couple of other parents with kids to host an annual clothes swap. Trade toys and books, too! You'll save a bundle.
- Take inventory: Sort through last yearโs supplies to see what is left over or can be reused. Having trouble finding last yearโs stuff? Resolve to set up a place to keep your school supplies together this year.
- Browse Marketplace: Yes, you can find top-quality stuff on the cheap, but you can be a seller, too. Why not get some cash for that barely worn, now outgrown brand-name outfit? Just enter your location and click on "Baby and Kids.โ
Meet Our New Teachers
Mrs. Christianne Ottinger, Gifted Resource Teacher
Her words to us: Hello to both new and familiar faces! I taught at Glen Acres, as well as 4 other elementary schools, and math and science in Upper Darbyโs Beverly Hills Middle School. Prior to teaching I worked as an environmental engineer. These days, when Iโm not teaching, Iโm doing some type of fitness activity, training my new dog, or a combination of both. Iโve already received a warm welcome from some staff and former/future students at Fugett, but Iโm looking forward to getting to know many more.

๐ฒWCASD Activity Fee Reminder๐ฒ
The West Chester Area School District has a tradition of offering high-quality extra-curricular programs for students. To support the costs of these programs, an Activity Fee is applied to extra-curricular programs supervised by a contracted coach, advisor, or director. This yearly fee allows a student to participate in one or multiple funded activities, and the maximum amount a family may pay per year is $250.
The 2026 - 2027 cost per student* for WCASD Middle Schools is $87.00.
*Family Fee Cap is $250 maximum.
Our district is committed to ensuring that no student is denied participation in an extra-curricular because of cost concerns. Families experiencing financial hardship can find information regarding financial help on our website or through your school caseworker.
Once your student is rostered to participate in a funded sport or activity, please pay the activity fee by using the online payment method, PaySchools Central. Other payment information is located on our Activity Fee Website.
If you have questions, please visit our, email activityfee@wcasd.net or contact your schoolโs athletic department, coach, or advisor. As always, thank you for your continued support of our districtโs schools and programs.
