Pike Central High School
January
Happy New Year, Chargers!
We hope everyone had a restful winter break and is ready to jump into a productive second semester. We are starting 2026 with some incredible news and record-breaking community spirit.
A Record-Breaking Show of Support
The Pike County School Corporation community truly outdid themselves this month! In the spirit of the IU Football National Championship Game, a corporation-wide canned food drive was held to support our local community.
The goal was set at 1,820 items to secure a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, January 20th. We are thrilled to announce that our families and students blew that goal out of the water! Instead of 1,820 items, the corporation collected a staggering 6,337 cans! This is a powerful testament to what we can achieve when we work together. Thank you to everyone who contributed to helping our neighbors in need, and GO HOOSIERS!
Lilly Endowment Scholarship Winner
We are bursting with pride to announce that the prestigious Lilly Endowment Scholarship has been awarded to our very own Heidi Woodford!
This scholarship is a life-changing opportunity, covering full tuition and fees for four years at any Indiana college or university. Heidi has shown exceptional dedication to her academics and community, and we cannot think of a more deserving recipient. Congratulations, Heidiβwe canβt wait to see what you achieve!
Off to See the Wizard!
The magic of theater is coming to PCHS! We are excited to announce that the cast for our Spring Musical, "The Wizard of Oz," has officially been selected.
Congratulations to all the students who auditioned. We know how much hard work and talent goes into these productions, and we are looking forward to a fantastic show this spring. Stay tuned for more details regarding performance dates and ticket sales!
Looking Ahead
As we settle into the new semester, remember to stay focused on your goals. Let's carry the energy from our successful first semester into our classrooms and extracurriculars, and remember to Be Nice!
Go Chargers!

Mrs. Hunt's Animal Science Class
Mrs. Huntβs Animal Science class has been learning about the horse industry and had the opportunity to learn hands-on and recently visited Freedom Reins Therapeutic Riding Center to explore a sector of the horse industry. Students began by learning important horse safety practices before heading to the barn to discuss feeding, watering, veterinary care, daily routines, and how to properly muck a stall. Next, they moved to the arena where they practiced grooming, picking horses' feet, and safely walking the horses. Freedom Reins wrapped up the visit by talking about their program and all the benefits of serving those who need the therapeutic services, and how to become a volunteer. The students did a fantastic job and truly enjoyed the hands-on experience working with the horses!
