Rattler Pride is on the Rise!!!!!
Dear Rattler Families,
I cannot thank you enough for the incredible community support you showed during the Rattler Rumble and Back to School Bash! I am absolutely beaming with Rattler pride. Because of your generosity and support, we will be able to provide so many wonderful opportunities and experiences for our students throughout the year.
And another big win to celebrate—all of our grade levels are currently at or above 96% attendance! We are so close to our campus goal of 97% for the month. Let’s keep it going, Rattlers!
Looking ahead, parent conferences are coming up soon. Our teachers are excited to share beginning-of-the-year data, celebrate your child’s strengths and progress, and partner with you to set meaningful goals for the year ahead.
Thank you again for everything you do to make Rough Hollow such an incredible place! I am so proud to be your principal!

RATTLER RUMBLE — FINAL UPDATE!
WE DID IT, RATTLERS!!!
WE RATTLED. WE RAISED. WE RUMBLED...and crushed our goal - $155,788 RAISED!
What started as our inaugural Rattler Rumble turned into something truly incredible. Our students, families, teachers, staff, friends, and community showed up BIG — and together we blew past our goal!
FINAL TOTAL: $155,788 RAISED!
Highest single donation on Rattler Rumble Day: $3,000!
261 Rattler Rumble blankets distributed!
And that final push unlocked TWO incredible additions for our school:
$130K UNLOCKED — ROBOTICS LAB!
$150K UNLOCKED — VR LAB!
AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP BELT GOES TO...McCLAUGHERTY’S CLASS! With an incredible $14,154.75 raised, McClaugherty’s class takes the title as our TOP FUNDRAISING CLASS and earns their name displayed on the Rattler Rumble Championship Traveling Trophy Belt Plaque!
From the kickoff assembly and Rocky learning how to rumble to the inflatables, Kona Ice, dunk tank, Glow Party and everything in between — what an unforgettable week for our Rattlers! But the biggest win is what this community accomplished together:
$155,788 FOR ROUGH HOLLOW ELEMENTARY!
We set an ambitious $150,000 goal for our inaugural Rattler Rumble... and YOU MADE IT HAPPEN.
To every student who participated, every family who donated and shared, every teacher and staff member who helped bring the excitement, every volunteer who gave their time, and every friend and community member who supported RHE: THANK YOU! You made our very first Rattler Rumble one to remember.

Discovery Referral Information
DISCOVERY/GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAM REFERRAL
DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 10/15
Attention LTISD Parents and Guardians,
Discovery, otherwise known as Gifted and Talented, is the enrichment program provided for students who have been identified as intellectually gifted and talented. All students are eligible to be selected for the Discovery program at each campus. In order to be identified as gifted and talented, each student must undergo a screening and selection process. The Discovery Program is now accepting parent referrals for GT Screening via Google form.
Elementary Form - For Grades 1, 3, 4, 5
Second Graders will not need a referral. The entire grade level will be screened in October. More information to come.
Kindergarten students can be referred for GT testing beginning in January 2027. More details will be shared regarding this process at the end of the first semester.
Transfer students, who were already identified as GT coming from their previous district, should submit the Google form as soon as possible, as the transfer student screening will be set within 30 days of the first day of school. Parents should send proof of their child's selection/participation in the previous GT program directly to the campus GT coordinator. (This applies to families that haven’t already been in touch with the GT coordinator.)
Parents can submit referrals for screening by October 15, 2026. Testing will occur during the 2nd 9 weeks of instruction. If the referral and permission forms are not submitted by the deadline, the next opportunity for the student to be screened will be the following academic year. Spring screening is reserved for students moving in new to the district after the fall testing window is closed and for kindergarten students.
The forms, program information and campus coordinator names can be found on the district Gifted and Talented page.
Once the request is submitted through the Google form, the campus GT coordinator will contact parents via email after October 15th to share pertinent information.
You are also welcome to contact your campus GT coordinator at any time with questions.
