ALA Giving Tree! Support our ALA Families.
Each year ALA Elementary hosts a Giving Tree to help support those in need this holiday. This year our Giving Tree is dedicated to our students here at ALA that could use some Christmas cheer. Please consider getting an ornament from our tree to bring a smile to the face of one of our own. Take a tag, purchase the item, and bring it back to the elementary front office with the tag so we can distribute the gifts. Thanks for all your help.
For questions please reach out to School Social Worker, Anna Luna at Aluna@alautah.net
Reminder from our Nurse
Dear Parent or Guardian:
We are entering that time of year when kids start getting sick a lot. Please help with keeping our students healthy and in school. To prevent widespread illness in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines:
Consider keeping your child at home for an extra day of rest and observation if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
● Very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough
● Sore throat
● Headache/ Body Aches
● Stomach ache
Definitely keep your child at home for treatment and observation if he or she has any of these symptoms:
● Fever in the last 24 hours
● Vomiting/Diarrhea in the last 24 hours
● Chills/ Feelings of fatigue, discomfort, aches, weakness
● Cold/Flu symptoms with heavy coughing, nasal discharge, or difficulty breathing
Other times you should keep your child home include if they:
● Have started an antibiotic for an infectious illness in the last 24 hours (i.e. strep throat, pink eye, etc.)
● Have an illness with open sores that have not healed (Chicken Pox, Hand Foot Mouth, etc.)
● Have untreated head lice or ring worm (May return once treatment starts)
To help prevent illness, teach your children good hygiene habits:
● Wash hands frequently
● Do not touch eyes, nose, or mouth
● Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
● Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
● Stay Hydrated
Colds are most contagious during the first 48 hours. A child who has a fever should remain at home until "fever free" without medication for a minimum of 24 hours. Often when a child wakes up with vague complaints (the way colds and flu begin) it is wise to observe your child at home for an hour or two before deciding whether or not to bring them to school. Your child should be physically able to participate in all school activities when they return to school. Keeping a sick child at home will minimize the spread of infections and viruses in the classroom. Other ways to help children stay healthy include reinforcing good hygiene at home, staying hydrated, getting the right amount of sleep, and eating a balanced diet.
Thank you for your cooperation and help. We love having your students at school learning with us and want to continue to see them grow!

ELEMENTARY INFORMATION
Message from our Elementary Principal - Mr. Anderson
Hello Parents,
What an amazing week we’ve had! I want to sincerely thank everyone who came out on Thursday to support our 5th Grade Economics Fair. Seeing our students showcase all their hard work, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit was truly inspiring. They absolutely RISED UP, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of their families—thank you for helping them prepare, guide, and cheer them on at home.
I also want to recognize our incredible 5th grade teachers. Their dedication, guidance, and encouragement made this event such a success. And, as always, a huge thank you to our front office staff for keeping everything organized and running smoothly behind the scenes.
As we head into the last week before Christmas Break, we’re continuing to focus on the “S” in RISE UP—Service. I love seeing our students take this to heart, whether it’s through helping a friend, showing kindness, or lending a hand in our school.
A few important reminders as we wrap up the year:
NO Friday School next Friday, December 19th.
Our next session of Storytime Squad will run January 5th–February 5th. Teachers will send the sign-up, and spots are first come, first serve.

Thank you again for your support, trust, and partnership. Together, we are helping our students RISE UP, grow, and shine. Let’s finish this week strong and carry this energy into the holiday season!
