We challenge, empower, and inspire one another to achieve our highest potential as lifelong learners interacting in a global community. We care, question, learn, reflect, and act.
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
First, I want to celebrate the wonderful commitment to attendance across our community! Forty days into the school year, our overall positive attendance rate is holding strong at 93% (matching last year’s rate!). District is at 93.4%. A special shout-out to our grade levels:
6th Grade: Leading the way at 94.2% positive attendance!
7th Grade: 92.3%
8th Grade: 92.5%
Our school’s current chronic absenteeism rate is 18% (compared to 17.5% for middle schools district-wide and up slightly from our 17% last year). This reflects the percentage of students absent more than ten days. Every day present counts toward learning and connection—thank you for continuing to partner with us to prioritize daily attendance!
Consistent daily learning goes hand-in-hand with steady skill growth. As a reminder:
Weekly Goals: Students are expected to complete and pass one i-Ready Reading lesson and one i-Ready Math lesson each week.
At-Home Learning Time: If your child is absent or doesn’t have assigned homework on a given day, encouraging them to work on their i-Ready lessons is a fantastic way to keep up their momentum!
Track Growth: Ask your student to login to i-Ready to share their progress. We look forward to celebrating growth on our mid-year i-Ready tests in December!
Thank you for your ongoing partnership, engagement, and support of our students’ growth both in and out of the classroom!
GO WILDCATS! ROAR!

Principal

LEMS Halloween Costume Guidelines
As we approach Halloween, we would like to remind students and families of our costume guidelines.
Students may choose to wear a Halloween costume to school on Friday, October 31. Participation is completely optional, and regular dress code rules remain in effect. To ensure a safe and positive day for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
1. Costumes must follow the school dress code at all times.
- Clothing must allow safe movement and participation in regular learning and activities.
2. Masks, full-face coverings, or heavy face paint are prohibited.
- This is for safety and identification reasons.
3. Props, weapons, or replicas are prohibited.
- This includes plastic or toy guns, swords, bats, or anything resembling a weapon.
4. Costumes may not depict or promote violence, gore, drugs, or alcohol.
- Avoid fake blood or horror themes.
5. Costumes that mock, stereotype, or appropriate any culture, religion, gender, or group are not permitted.
- Choose creative, respectful, and inclusive costume ideas.
6. Shoes must be safe for walking through hallways and outdoor areas.
- No slippers or cleats.
7. Costume preparation (makeup, hair dye, accessories) must be completed at home.
- No application of makeup, colored spray, or glitter at school.
8. Costumes should not distract from learning or classroom participation.
- Avoid noisy, inflatable, or oversized outfits that interfere with desks or hallways.
9. Bring a change of clothes.
- Any student wearing an inappropriate costume may be asked to change or call home for alternate attire.
10. When in doubt, ask an administrator before Halloween.
- Admin reserve the right to determine if a costume is school-appropriate.
Thank you for your attention to these guidelines and for helping ensure that our Halloween celebrations remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.
