Noble Family Newsletter
January 26, 2026
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
1/27 - CH-UH Schools Closed
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District will be CLOSED Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to dangerously cold temperatures predicted for when students will be traveling to school in the morning. Stay warm and safe!
Over the past few weeks, it has been inspiring to see our students celebrate their stretch growth on MAP assessments. MAP continues to serve as a strong leading indicator of student performance on the OST and, in our primary grades, has provided especially valuable insight to guide math instruction. This photo from one of our celebrations captures the spirit, energy, and pride our students feel as they work toward, and achieve, their goals!
Heavy Lifting
Noble Families,
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
As we move closer to spring assessments and the end of the school year, our focus remains on helping students become strong, confident thinkers. In classrooms, teachers are intentionally designing learning experiences that ask students to do more of the thinking, explaining their ideas, asking questions, problem-solving, and reflecting on their learning.
This approach helps students build independence, deepen understanding, and develop skills that go far beyond any single test. It also supports their growth as thoughtful learners who are prepared for future challenges. After our Data Day today, our staff is reflecting on at least one intentional instructional shift they are making to encourage deeper thinking and student ownership of learning, whether in preparation for assessments or in daily classroom practice. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help students grow academically and as individuals.

From the Assistant Principal's Desk
Noble Families,
Last week at Noble, we continued to see strong consistency around expectations and positive student behavior. Staff recognized many students for demonstrating our school values of being Kind, Safe, Respectful, and Responsible, and we are proud of the positive choices being made across classrooms and common spaces.
As we move into this week, we want to share a few important updates:
Our team continues to support students when they need help making positive choices, always with a focus on learning, reflection, and growth.
Sensory breaks remain available for students who need them to stay regulated and engaged. If a scheduled break is missed, teachers will provide support within the classroom.
Recess decisions will continue to be shared daily. In general, outdoor recess occurs when the “feels like” temperature is at or above 20 degrees. Any changes will be communicated to students during the school day.
Attendance remains an important focus for us. Our current average daily attendance is 93.6%, and we are working closely with families to support students who have missed several days of school. Being present consistently makes a meaningful difference in students’ academic progress and overall success.

Mid-Year Survey
We invite you to participate in our Mid-Year Family Feedback Survey, an important opportunity to share your voice and help shape future programming.
Your feedback helps us better understand what is working well and where we can improve to support strong family–school partnerships across the district. Survey results are used to inform decision-making, enhance communication, and ensure that our efforts align with the needs and experiences of our families.
The survey is confidential and takes just a few minutes to complete. Your perspective matters —every response helps us strengthen meaningful connections between home and school.
Thank you for partnering with us and for your continued support of our students and schools.

Community Resource Fair
The MetroHealth school-based clinic at Heights High facilitates a Youth Advisory Council (YAC) made up of Heights High School students. This group works throughout the school year to identify social issues impacting our community and to develop meaningful, student-led solutions.
This year, our Youth Advisory Council is organizing a Community Resource Fair designed to help Heights families access resources and information that can support their health, education, and ETC. and overall well-being. The event will be open to CH-UH students and their families during the school day, and later in the afternoon we will open it to the broader community so additional families can benefit from the available resources.

Communication Plan - Persons with Disabilities
The District has adopted a plan for communications with persons with disabilities, which is available at the following link: Communication Plan. The plan establishes procedures to ensure that the District's communications with persons with disabilities, including applicants, participants, members of the public, and companions with disabilities, are as effective as its communications with others.
The Road to the Ohio State Tests Begins!
The Ohio State Test windows early as open as April for Grades 3,4, and 5! Families can support students as Ohio State Tests approach by focusing on a few simple routines at home. Helping children get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time can make a big difference in how prepared and confident they feel.
Encourage your child to take their time, reread questions, and give their best effort, even when something feels challenging. Reminding them to pause, take deep breaths, and stay calm can also help reduce test-day nerves. Most importantly, keep the focus on growth—one test does not define your child, and daily learning and effort matter most.
The Superintendent Winter Reading Challenge Is Here!
What: Read as many books as you like. Get the Elementary Reading Challenge Snowflakes sheet from your teacher and color in a snowflake for every book you read. Be sure to include the title of the book, and write or draw a picture answering the prompt, “I liked this book because…” Also be sure to put your name and your teacher’s name on the sheet.
Raffle: The first week of March, we will pull names to give out prizes from the raffle box. All students’ names will then be combined the first week of March to pull for our grand prize winner.
