Fierke Families,

Thank you for your unending support and partnership throughout the year in providing a high-quality education to your students. We have had so much these past few weeks: parties, Field Days, Movies, Field Trips, and much student recognition. A huge thanks to our PTO for spoiling us as always. From the outdoor signs at the start and end of the year to many types of treat days with coffee, candy, and class parties. THANK YOU!!!

New Principal

Mrs. Gina Lamorte has been appointed Fierke's new principal. Mrs. Lamorte has 20 years of experience in education, having served as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, a Master’s Degree in Literacy Education from Loyola University Chicago, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa. Mrs. Lamorte is committed to maintaining a positive school community and strong relationships with students, families, and staff. She will be a great addition to the Fierke Family and to District 146. Congratulations, Mrs. Lamorte!

On a Personal Note....

After serving as principal at Fierke for the past seven years, I leave with a heart full of gratitude and pride. I am incredibly thankful for the unwavering support of our dedicated staff and the strong partnership with our caring families and community. The students have been the heart of my work—bringing joy, energy, and inspiration every day. Fierke is truly a special place, filled with compassion, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping every child thrive. Yesterday, the staff presented me with a beautiful painting by Ms. Marx, capturing the spirit of our Hives and adorned with the fingerprints of both students and staff—a touching symbol of the connections we've built together. They also gifted me a binder filled with kind, thoughtful messages from students and colleagues. I am truly blessed. It has been an honor to serve and lead this exceptional school, and Fierke will always hold a special place in my heart. Once a Stinger, always a Stinger!

Everyone have a great summer!
