Green Hornet Heroes
November 2026
Principal Message
October has been a busy month for all of us! We had our Character Assembly for showing Self Control, Pizza with the Principal, Homecoming Parade, Walkathon, Trunk or Treat and Parent/teacher conferences. Students took their first NWEA assessments, and we are using the results to provide intervention services for those needing some extra help. I hope that your families are all in the school routine to help your child do their best at school. Our first card-marking ends on November 13, and this is the time to check to see if your child is on the right track to be successful. You may need to remind your child of expectations of completing work, asking for help, going to bed on time, not socializing too much in class and doing their best. And don't forget, attendance matters!
Thank you to all that have been donating to Green! We had our Morley Fundraiser, and will be getting the items soon. We also raised about $3000 from our walkathon and will have funds and books earned from our Scholastic Book fair.
We will be having our annual Thanksgiving food drive and selling Turkey Bucks this month.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving later this month.
Kindly,
Mrs. Miglio

Important Reminders
*Breakfast is free and available to every student each morning. Students arriving after 8:45 will not receive a breakfast. Please make sure that your child is here on time every morning. *Student attendance is very important. If a student will be absent for any reason, please call and notify the school office. When calling, please give the reason, the length of the absence, and who is calling for them. State law requires us to report chronic and excessive absences, including tardiness, early release, and late pick-ups. We encourage you to schedule medical appointments for after school hours to limit early pick-ups. If you are in need of Latchkey services to allow your child to remain later than 3:35 p.m., please call 586-445-5688. *Students that will need to take medication of any kind, including inhalers and/or Epi-pens, must have a Medication Request Form completed by their doctor and placed in their school file for the year. Medical forms are available in the office.
ALL Green students receive a free breakfast and lunch this year by participating in the Michigan Department of Education Community Eligibility Option. Students are also allowed to bring in a lunch from home if they choose. Students will NOT be eligible for breakfast if they come in after the tardy bell.
Please be careful when driving in our parking lot. When dropping off students, do not park your car and exit your car. Just drop them off in the walking lane while you wait in your car. If you want to walk them to the door, please park your car in a designated spot and not block the drop off lanes. Also, please drive slowly, as we have many students and adults walking to their cars.
We are always grateful for the support of our wonderful parent volunteers. If you're interested in contributing your time and skills, please reach out to the Main Office and we can get you started!

Attendance Matters!
September's Attendance Summary
It's important your child comes to school every day. It's also important they do not be tardy or picked up early too often. Teachers begin teaching after breakfast at 8:45 am, and teachers instruct until 3:25pm. If a child is absent, tardy or leaves early often, they are missing instruction which affects their learning and relationships with other students.
September's attendance shows about half of our students had a satisfactory number of absences, about a quarter of our students were at risk, and a quarter moderately or severely absent.
