The Lyon County School District is proud to shine the spotlight on Sara White, a dedicated paraprofessional at Silver Stage High School, who has been named one of Nevada’s finalists for the 2025 Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE) Award.

The RISE Award, established by the U.S. Congress in 2019 and overseen by the U.S. Department of Education, honors classified school employees who demonstrate exceptional commitment, compassion, and service to students. Each year, these awards highlight the vital contributions of employees who work behind the scenes to ensure schools run smoothly and students thrive.

Sara’s recognition as one of only five statewide finalists is a tremendous honor—and a testament to her unwavering dedication to students, staff, and the Silver Stage community. Known for her kindness, patience, and steady support, Sara exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond in the classroom and beyond. Her colleagues describe her as someone who leads with her heart, always stepping up to help wherever she’s needed, and building meaningful connections that make students feel valued and supported every day.

Being selected as a state finalist is a remarkable achievement that reflects Sara’s excellence, professionalism, and impact within Lyon County Schools. As Governor Joe Lombardo stated, “Classified school employees go above and beyond to make a positive difference in the lives of students across our state.” Sara’s work at Silver Stage High School is a shining example of that spirit in action.
