Lake Fenton High School
FROM LFHS ADMINISTRATION TEAM
LFHS September Updates
Hello Lake Fenton High School,
What an incredible first full week of the school year! Walking the hallways, visiting classrooms, and seeing our students settled in and eager to learn has filled me with immense gratitude and enthusiasm for the year ahead. While this marks my first year as high school principal, this is my sixth year serving proudly in our district. I previously served one year as assistant principal and four years as middle school principal and this is my eleventh year in school administration overall. Having worked alongside many of your children over the years, I am excited to step into this new role. Our dedicated staff has spent this week establishing strong routines, fostering welcoming classroom communities, and setting a tone of high expectations paired with deep support. Thank you for your partnership, your warm encouragement, and for entrusting us with your children each day. Together, I know we are going to make this an extraordinary, growth-filled school year!

PROUD TO BE B.L.U.E.
It’s hard to believe that I’m starting another school year at Lake Fenton High School- this time in a very different role! As a 2012 LFHS graduate, being able to come back to the district in 2018 as a Chemistry teacher has always felt like a very special opportunity. Over the past eight years, I’ve been lucky enough to teach, coach, and build relationships with so many amazing students and families. I spent the last several years coaching our girls basketball program, first as the JV coach and then as the Head Varsity Coach. While I’m stepping away from coaching and teaching this year, I’m excited to continue supporting our students in a new way as Assistant Principal. Lake Fenton has played a huge role in shaping who I am, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to the school and community that has given me so much. I’m looking forward to getting to know even more of our students and families and making this a great year for our Blue Devils!

ITEM DROP OFF POLICY
STUDENTS LEAVING CAMPUS
11th and 12th grade students who drive themselves may be eligible to leave campus for lunch or for online classes, Co-Op, or Dual Enrollment. Students must have a parent/guardian-signed permission form on file (green for lunch; yellow for online/Co-Op/Dual Enrollment) and a valid LFHS parking pass on file with the office. Students leaving for GCI, online classes, Co-Op, or Dual Enrollment must check out with the secretaries in the main office before leaving and check back in upon return. During lunch, students must check out with the secretaries in the main foyer before leaving campus and check back in when they return. Students are expected to return to school on time and ready for class. Off-campus violations include returning late/tardies, leaving without properly signing out, allowing another student to use their pass or vehicle, or failing to follow school expectations while off campus. Attendance contracts, discipline concerns, or repeated violations may result in restricted or revoked off-campus privileges. Three violations will result in an administrator conference, and five violations will result in the loss of off-campus lunch privileges. Students may not transport other students, this privilege is only for student drivers in the 11th and 12th grades who have filled out permission forms and have valid parking passes on file. To leave campus, students must meet the following criteria:
- Must be in 11th or 12th grade with a valid parking pass.
- Must have a permission form on file AND follow the checkout/check in process.
- Must be on time returning from lunch, co-op, online, or dual enrollment classes.
- Must return to school for the remainder of the school day.
- Cannot transport other students.
Failure to abide by the above rules will result in loss of off-campus privileges for the remainder of the year.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
ROAD CLOSURE
Lahring Road will be closed between Ripley Road and Linden Road for the next few weeks. Drivers who typically use this route to get to the high school should plan for extra travel time and use the following detour:
North on Linden Road → East on Thompson Road → South on Jennings Road → High School
Please plan accordingly and allow additional time for your commute. Thank you!
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE (WCD) POLICY
I LOVE YOU GUYS
New this year, all Michigan schools are legally required to implement the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation by the 2026-27 school year. The Standard Response Protocol (SRP), created by The "I Love U Guys" Foundation, is an action-based emergency response framework widely adopted by schools, districts, and public safety organizations. Instead of relying on specific scenario-based plans, the SRP centers on five core, easy-to-learn actions with standardized directives to ensure students, staff, and first responders share a common language during a crisis.
Tuesday, during tutorial, students will watch a 5 minute video explaining the new protocols. Students will also hear the automated system that the building uses to notify occupants that we are in one of the standard responses.
LUNCH PROGRAM INFORMATION
We are excited to share some great news as we begin the new school year: Michigan is providing free school meals again this year for all students! This means breakfast and lunch are available at no cost to students, helping ensure that every child can start the day ready to learn and enjoy a nutritious meal during the school day.
We’re also excited to offer a variety of new and returning favorites on our menus this year. Students can look forward to new options such as:
🌟 New Breakfast Options
🥣 Acai Bowls
🥑 Avocado Toast
🍽️ New & Returning Lunch Favorites
🍛 Chicken Tikka Masala
🧀 Cuban Mac and Cheese
🌮 Nacho Bar — a returning favorite
🧇 Chicken and Waffles — another student favorite
🎒 Grab-and-Go Options
We know that some of our students travel off campus during the school day for classes and other learning opportunities. To make sure these students still have access to a meal, we will also be introducing Grab-and-Go food options. These convenient meals will allow students traveling to off-campus classes to take a meal with them and enjoy it while they are away from campus.
We’re proud to provide meals that are nutritious, delicious, convenient, and offer students a variety of flavors and choices throughout the school year.
We encourage all students to take advantage of the free breakfast and lunch program. There is no cost to your family for these meals.
While school meals are free for all students, it is still very important that every family completes the Education Benefits Form. This form helps determine eligibility for valuable educational funding that directly benefits our students and school community.
Even if you do not believe your family qualifies, submitting the form ensures our school receives the funding it is eligible to receive. Every completed form helps us better support our students, teachers, and classrooms.
We encourage all families to complete and return the Education Benefits Form HERE as soon as possible. Your participation makes a meaningful difference in the educational opportunities available to every student.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a wonderful school year and to serving our students delicious meals each day!

SAFE STORAGE LAW
To help protect Michigan’s youth and prevent firearm-related unintentional injuries, Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL) requires firearm owners to securely store firearms wherever minors are present or likely to be present. If a firearm is left unattended where a minor (under 18) is or is likely to be present, it must be:
• Secured in a locked box or container, and/or
• Unloaded and secured with a locking device (like a trigger or cable lock) that would prevent anyone from using it.
This law applies whether firearms are in your own home or brought to another location.
If a firearm is in a vehicle, the vehicle must be locked when not in use, and the firearm must be secured and either locked in a container or disabled with a trigger or cable lock.
